The counselling service is exclusively for adult patients who perceive hearing loss and are considering hearing aids or already have hearing aids but are not satisfied with them. The expert team of the counselling centre consists of MUDr. Šárka Zavázalová, a doctor with extensive experience in the field of otorhinolaryngology (ENT) and hearing disorders, and audiology nurse Andrea Kropáčová, who provides practical advice to patients and ensures a smooth course of the examination and the whole process of choosing a hearing aid.
"Hearing is one of our most important senses. When it starts to weaken, it can affect not only everyday communication, but also the overall quality of life," says ENT doctor Šárka Zavázalová.
How does the visit work?
A visit to the clinic begins with a consultation with the patient, an examination of the ears using a microscope and an audiological hearing test. "Based on all the examinations and the results obtained, we will recommend the most suitable type of hearing aid according to the level of hearing loss and individual needs. The selected hearing aid model will be tuned and programmed right away so that you can try the hearing improvement immediately," says Zavázalová.
Choosing the right hearing aid is a key step in helping the patient to listen to the world around them again with maximum comfort and quality. In addition to the degree of hearing loss, it also depends on his or her lifestyle, personal needs and aesthetic requirements. "Together, we will go through the possibilities offered by today's technology, from basic hearing aid models to modern hearing aids with advanced features that offer, for example, connection to a mobile phone, hands-free use or music streaming," says audiology nurse Andrea Kropáčová.
There is a choice of both unobtrusive hearing aids behind the ear and in the ear canals, as well as designer devices that act as a fashion accessory. "If your hearing is impaired on both sides, then we recommend hearing aids for both ears. This is the only way to achieve natural hearing, greater speech intelligibility and better sound orientation in space," adds Kropáčová.
In addition to the selection and fitting of hearing aids, the hearing aid clinic at the Hořovice Hospital also offers long-term care, including regular check-ups, servicing and other adjustments according to the patient's current needs, which only covers the hearing aid itself and the necessary accessories. All consultations, examinations and counselling within the hearing aid clinic are provided free of charge under the patient's health insurance. In addition, health insurance companies contribute less than CZK 7 000 towards the purchase of a hearing aid once every five years.
Patients can make an appointment by phone at +420 311 555 000, by e-mail at recepce@nemocnice-horovice.cz, or in person at the reception of the Hořovice Hospital.
