Milan Pastucha, MD: Hip endoprosthesis as a solution for arthrosis

8. 10. 2025

Hip arthrosis is one of the most common orthopaedic diseases and its incidence is increasing. The head of the orthopaedic department of the Hořovice Hospital, Milan Pastucha, MD, spoke about treatment options, hereditary predispositions and when it is appropriate to proceed to surgery in the programme What's Your Health on CNN Prima NEWS.

Arthrosis manifests itself very differently in patients - while some are genetically determined, others begin to feel it later in life. "Each person has a different pain threshold. Many patients come only when the disease is at an advanced stage," said Milan Pastucha, MD, head of the orthopaedic department, in an interview. In these cases, the only effective solution is often the implantation of a hip arthroplasty.

The reportage filmed directly at the Hořovice Hospital showed the audience the modern surgical facilities and the stories of patients who, thanks to hip replacement, regained the possibility of active movement and a significantly improved quality of life.
