The choice of the 2025 Maternity Hospital of the Year is based on the ratings of women who gave birth between 17 September 2024 and 2 November 2025. Mothers rate a wide range of areas - from the preparation of the birth plan, the progress of the birth, their positive experience of the medical staff and support with breastfeeding, to the quality of care in the sixth-form unit.
Hořovice Maternity Hospital was ranked 5th in a competition of 89 maternity hospitals across the country. Within the Central Bohemian Region, it won the sovereign first place, and thus became the Maternity Hospital of the Year 2025 of the Central Bohemian Region.
"We greatly appreciate every decision to use the services of our medical facility, and we appreciate even more the trust of mothers who choose our facility for their birth. We perceive the award as proof of the positive experience of mothers with the care provided by our midwives, doctors, nurses, lactation consultants, paramedics and everyone involved in the care of mother and child. Only their joint work, their expertise, experience, empathy and sensitive, human approach can lead to quality care and at the same time to the satisfaction of mothers. For this they deserve a big thank you," emphasizes the director of the Hořovice Hospital MUDr. Radek Majerčin.
Modern environment and empathetic team
"Our maternity hospital is based on openness to the wishes of mothers, individual approach and support for the family during and after the birth. The team of midwives and doctors strives to make every woman's birth experience as natural as possible, calm and confident. We offer expectant mothers four modern, comfortable and completely self-contained birthing rooms, allowing birth to be conducted in a safe yet very personal environment. Every such award is a motivation for us to continue on the path that puts the mother and child at the centre of our care," adds the head of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department , MUDr. Leoš Teslík, I.F.E.P.A.G.
The mothers who took part in the voting most often highlighted the human and respectful approach of the staff, professional management of the birth and support during the first hours and days after the birth of the baby.
Postnatal support and excellent neonatal care
"Childbirth marks the beginning of a new stage, which we try to make as easy as possible for mothers. Our team is made up of experienced nurses, lactation consultants and doctors who are ready to guide parents through the first days after their baby is born and offer support with breastfeeding and daily care. Our department also has an intensive care unit (ICU) for newborns. We involve parents in the care of the baby from the very beginning so that they can get to know the baby, gain confidence and know that they are well prepared for everything that is needed," says MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová, manager of the maternity ward and head of the neonatal unit.
Since 2014, the Hořovice Maternity Hospital has had the status of a Perinatology Centre for Intermediate Care, which allows it to provide expert care to newborns born from the 30th week of pregnancy without the need to be transferred to a higher facility - which is extremely important for parents.

The Hořovice Maternity Hospital has long provided comprehensive care not only to women from the region, but increasingly also to mothers from all over the Czech Republic. The staff emphasises a respectful approach, privacy and modern methods of labour pain management.
The award "Maternity Hospital of the Year 2025 of the Central Bohemian Region" confirms the quality, efforts and professional approach of the entire team of the Hořovice Hospital. At the same time, it is a commitment to continue the development of modern obstetric care so that every mother can take away the most positive and safe birth experience.
