Internal department

The Internal Medicine Department provides complex diagnostics and treatment of patients with acute and chronic diseases of all basic branches of internal medicine, i.e. diseases of the heart and blood vessels, respiratory apparatus, digestive tract, kidneys and urinary system, internal environment, metabolic disorders, diabetes, hematological and rheumatological diseases. The department has standard beds, intermediate care beds and acute beds within the multidisciplinary ICU. If necessary, it cooperates with specialized renowned centres, especially in Prague and Pilsen. Follow-up care for internally ill patients is provided by our doctors in specialist outpatient clinics.

Internal standard department

The ward is located on the first floor of the hospital building, it has beds for men and women, the beds have the possibility of monitoring heart rate - telemetry.

The internal department provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of diseases according to the current trends in internal medicine.
If necessary, it cooperates closely with centres outside the region - especially with the cardiac centres at the Na Homolce Hospital, Motol Hospital, the Internal Clinic of the 2nd Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University, the University Hospital in Pilsen, the dialysis centre in Beroun and other departments.
Our doctors provide round-the-clock consiliary service in all departments of the hospital.
For patients with follow-up care needs, the services of a health and social worker are available,
The department also works closely with the Rehabilitation and Aftercare Department at Beroun Hospital.

Room facilities
The rooms are equipped with electric reclining beds, bedside table, wardrobe,
bathroom facilities (toilet with shower in each room), television, wifi free access.

Visiting hours
Daily from 13:00 - 18:00, other times by arrangement with the doctor or head nurse.

Information to relatives
Only with the patient's consent (the patient gives in writing the names of the persons on admission to the ward
can be informed about his/her health condition), the attending physician gives information between 13:00 - 15:00.

Acute Care Unit - IMP ( Intermediate Care Unit)

Provides care for acute patients requiring monitoring of basic vital signs (checking breathing, blood pressure, heart rate).
There is a device available to support breathing without the need for anaesthesia (non-invasive respiratory ventilation).

Internal ICU

It has beds within the multidisciplinary ICU.
Provides care for the most difficult patients, especially those with vital organ failure. If necessary, in collaboration with ARO doctors, temporary full support of breathing or kidney function (artificial lung ventilation, dialysis) can be provided.
In addition to acute patients, elective procedures are also performed here - e.g. treatment of heart rhythm disorders (electrical cardioversion).

Outpatient care

When further specialised care is required, patients are referred for treatment and follow-up
to outpatient doctors. Within these outpatient clinics, a wide range of specialised examinations are provided.

- stress ergometry, esophageal ECHO)

- vascular outpatient clinic (carotid artery ultrasound, lower extremity ultrasound, venous insufficiency detection device)

Where to come for a reception?

On the day of your scheduled appointment, come to the internal medicine department in the morning (unless otherwise arranged).

I'm going in for surgery

For more complex diagnostic or therapeutic procedures, you will be asked to give written consent on the Informed Consent for Inpatient Admission.docx form. This will give you general information about the operation or procedure, its benefits and possible complications. The attending physician will provide you with a detailed explanation and the individual course of treatment. Procedures for which written informed consent is required:

Each room is equipped with toilet, sink and shower, TV, wardrobes.
3 rooms with 4 beds, 4 rooms with 3 beds and 4 extra 1-bed rooms.

Information about the patient's health condition for the patient's relatives

Health information is confidential and we can only disclose it with the patient's consent to persons designated in writing by the patient on admission to the hospital in the Consent for Admission form. It will be provided by the attending physician in the afternoon or by prior arrangement with the ward nurses.

What to bring?

- ID card or other proof of identity (passport)

- referral for hospitalisation and results of previous examinations

pyjamas (nightwear)

slippers (non-slip, comfortable, without heels)
personal hygiene items

if you need anything special, you can find out from the ward staff and on the ward website.
- Medicines: during your stay in hospital, all medicines are prescribed by the attending doctor and administered by the nurse. If you are taking certain medicines to treat a specific condition, take them with you to the hospital and give them to the nurse when you arrive on the ward. The attending physician will include them among the medications that will be given to you during your hospital stay. Do not take any medication during your hospital stay without the doctor's knowledge. You will receive your medication from the nurses in the exact dose and at the exact time.

Do not carry: large sums of money, valuables, weapons.
There is a wardrobe for storing clothes during your stay in the hospital; items of daily personal use can be stored in the table next to the bed. Valuables, jewellery, larger sums of money and important documents are recommended to be stored with the nursing staff.

Visits to the department

Visits are possible every day due to the treatment regime and the ward regime, we recommend visiting between 14.00 and 18.00 hours. Please note that visitors may be asked to leave the patient's room in the case of bedside procedures, personal hygiene or medical appointments. Visitors under 10 years of age are not appropriate.

In the case of isolation of the patient due to an infectious disease, the visitor is required to equip himself/herself with personal protective equipment (drape, gloves, empire) at the room according to the instructions of the ward staff.

In case of hospitalization of the patient in the intermediate care room (IMP), visits of maximum 2 persons older than 10 years are possible. Please respect the staff's recommendation on the appropriate length of visit.

Billing and payment:
The final amount for the superior room, or superior food and beverages is paid at the end of the hospitalization at the NH cash desk. You can pay on weekdays until 2.30 p.m. by credit card or cash. Outside working hours, on weekends and on public holidays when the cash desk is closed, pay the bill at the ward (cash only). In both cases, you will receive a receipt for payment. Payment for the superior room does not include the inpatient bed charge. This is billed separately.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:

The superior room service includes only the superior standard of hotel services. It does not in any way imply a different treatment of patients by the attending staff.

Specifikace poskytované péče:

  • Denzitometrie je vyšetřovací metoda zjišťující hustotu a obsah minerálů v kostní hmotě především na základě množství vápníku.
  • Patři mezi velmi rychlé metody, bezbolestné a nezatěžující pacienta.
  • Provádíme denzitometrické vyšetření na novém denzitometrickém přístroji typu LUNAR-PRODIGY.
  • Díky denzitometrickému vyšetření je lékař schopen odhadnout, jak vysoká jsou rizika zlomenin spojených především s ubývající kvalitou kostní tkáně tzv. osteoporózou.
  • V případě, že se v denzitometrickém vyšetření prokáže osteoporóza, je v popisu vyšetření doporučeno osteologické vyšetření, pacienta převezmeme do disp. péče vrámci osteologické ambulance.
  • Indikace k denzitometrickému (DXA) vyšetření: zlomenina po 40. roce věku po pádu na rovině nebo při zvedání břemene; přítomnost rizikových faktorů: věk nad 65 let, předčasná menopauza ( před 45 rokem věku), hormonální léčba při nádorech prsů a prostaty, zlomenina krčku stehenní kosti u rodičů, terapie kortikoidy delší než 3 měsíce, terapie antiepileptiky delší než 5 let, malabsorbční stavy, stavy po Tx, CHRI, thyreotoxikóza, hypogonadismus, výrazný pokles tělesné výšky, RTG známky svědčící pro osteoporózu,nízké BMI, vyšší příjem kofeinu, alkoholu, kouření, snížený příjem mléčných výrobků.
  • Kontraindikace k denzitometrickému vyšetření: gravidita; podání kontrastní látky a izotopová vyšetření v době kratší než 4 dny před vyšetřením.

Důležité  informace:

  • Pacienty na denzitometrické vyšetření přijímáme na základě vystavené K-žádanky na tel. č. 311 555 000 (bez předvolby).
