Among the well-known personalities who more and more often prefer specialists and above-standard health care provided by the Hořovice Hospital is also former hockey player Robert Kysela, a well-known athlete who played a significant part of his career for Litvínov and also for Kladno. In 1996 he managed to win the World Championship in Vienna with the Czech national team. Robert Kysela still holds the record for the number of games played for HC Litvínov, for which he played a total of 682 games. He retired from active career in 2005 and is now the general manager of Litvínov. We met Robert Kysel at the beginning of February in the orthopaedic ward of Hořovice Hospital, where he underwent hip surgery on February 6. And how did he get to Hořovice?

"I already had one good experience with the Hořovice hospital three years ago, and that's why I decided to return to it again", says the former hockey player. "We planned the date of the operation with Dr. Kopečný about six months in advance. We more or less chose the date for February 6 because there is a break in hockey due to the Olympics and the transfer period is over," explained Kysela.

He cannot complain about the hospital in Hořovice. "This time I didn't even think about going somewhere else. I am very satisfied with the facilities, with the exemplary attitude of the local staff, with the doctors who are here. And also with Dr. Kopecny, who operated on my leg," said the world champion from Vienna, listing the reasons why he chose the Hořovice hospital again, even though Hořovice is 150 kilometres away from Litvínov. His roommate in the hospital room, who came to Hořovice from even more distant Ústí nad Orlicí, confirmed similar experiences.

As part of his recovery from the surgery, Kysela had time to watch the Olympics in Sochi, Russia. A TV with a sports channel was playing in his room. What do he think are the chances of the Czech national team at the Olympic tournament? "The team is very well composed. There are the right types of players for international hockey. We'll see... I think it's open. It will depend on small influences and luck." But he added that winning a gold medal like in Nagano is unlikely. "The generation that was at the big success in Nagano 16 years ago had players who were at their peak at that time. Even for Jaromir Jagr, there is a big difference when he plays tough games at 25 or now at 42," the veteran athlete added.
