Photographic exhibition of our doctor in Beroun

24. 6. 2016

In the presence of dozens of visitors, the photographic exhibition "Krámky and other still lifes" by our Dr. Jan Calta, director of Multiscan and expert representative of the Beroun and Hořovice hospitals, was opened on Wednesday 22nd June in the Museum of the Bohemian Karst in Beroun.

Dr. Calta's photographic work was presented by Karin Kriegerbecková Ph.D., Director of the Museum of the Bohemian Karst, in the presence of dozens of visitors, including a large number of his colleagues. She recalled that Jan Calta started photography relatively late, but as a young boy he had the opportunity to watch Josef Sudek at work, who was a very good friend of his parents. Like most amateur photographers at that time, he worked with Praktika, with whom he took his first, mainly children's and reportage pictures. It was only the era of digital photography that helped him to fulfil his dream of taking panoramic photographs, and since 2000 he has specialised mainly in panoramic photographs. His work can be seen in hospitals in Beroun and Hořovice, where it forms an integral part of the interior decoration.

He had his first exhibition of photographs from Paris in 2010 at the Association of Artists Gallery Výtoň, in 2011 he exhibited black and white photographs from Andalusia at the Klub Koníček Gallery in Lucerna, and in early 2014 he had a group exhibition of panoramic photographs at the New Association of Prague Artists in Žižkov.

The exhibition "Krámky a innych zátiší" is a permanent exhibition at the Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital. The digital photographs of this exhibition were taken over the course of almost fifteen years. The first ones were taken with Olympus compact cameras, whose chips had 2.2 million pixels, which can be seen in some of the photographs. The most recent ones are from the Nikon D800, whose resolution cannot be compared to the early days of digital photography.

"I travel a lot and try to create photographs of unusual views of chronically familiar subjects on my travels," Jan Calta says of his images. "But I've always had a soft spot for picturesque corners, especially different shops, unusual views of things around us and especially interesting light. Light is the spice of photography in general, the same subjects look quite different in different light. And so I gradually collected photographs that made me happy but didn't fit into any thematic files. I organized them into the collection "Shops and other still lifes", some of which you can see in the current exhibition. Their adaptation to the canvas proved to be a happy one and I hope that they will please the eye of visitors," emphasises the author of the exhibition, which will be open until 15 July 2016. Photographs of this exhibition, as well as other photographs by Dr. Calta, can also be viewed at www.zonerama.com/JanCalta.
