At the beginning of April, the angiology outpatient clinic of the Department of Internal Medicine at the Hořovice Hospital started its work, which has a new method for the examination of venous insufficiency. The new Venoscreen device can detect venous insufficiency non-invasively at an early stage of the disease.

"A large part of the various examinations have been performed in our outpatient clinic for a long time," says MUDr. Jana Ziková, a doctor in the internal medicine department. As an example, she mentions sonography of the vessels of the lower limbs or sonography of the carotid arteries. "Since the beginning of April, these examinations have been enriched with a new examination method focused on venous diagnostics. The Venoscreen device can detect venous insufficiency and determine its stage completely non-invasively. It works on the principle of photo-plethysmography and can detect chronic venous insufficiency in particular, even at an early stage of the disease," says the doctor from Horovice.
The outpatient clinic led by Jana Ziková will focus on diagnosis, dispensary and ultrasound checks for patients with thromboembolic disease. Furthermore, with peripheral vascular diseases, diagnosis and control of general vascular risk patients with regular ultrasound checks of the carotid arteries, both in primary and secondary prevention, control of patients after surgical procedures in this area. In case of exhaustion of conservative options, our outpatient clinic closely cooperates with the surgical vascular outpatient clinic in Hořovice.
