Monday 11 February is World Sick Day. On this day, every year, Cardinal Dominik Duka visits one of the Czech hospitals. This year, the Cardinal's choice fell on the Hořovice Hospital from the AKESO holding group. The Cardinal blessed the staff and patients and celebrated a mass for healing.

Cardinal Dominic Duka visited the hospital ward where seriously ill children are treated.
The Children's Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides multidisciplinary chronic intensive and resuscitation care to children of all ages who are very seriously or terminally ill. These are children with various types of diagnoses that limit their basic life functions in the long term and whose support is still needed to varying degrees.
The Department of Intensive and Long Term Care (DIOP) provides care for children up to 19 years of age and is for children with serious life-limiting illnesses that require long-term nursing care.
Cardinal Duke was also introduced to the concept of palliative care, which is provided within the hospital to both pediatric and adult patients and includes not only care for physical health symptoms, but also psychological, social and spiritual care.

"We are honoured that the Cardinal chose our hospital to celebrate the Mass, which was attended mostly by hospital staff and patients," said the hospital's director, MUDr. Michal Průša. "The hospital's medical staff offers mediation of spiritual and spiritual services to patients already during the initial examination. At the moment, we are discussing a pastoral contract that will have an ecumenical character," the director added.
