COVID-19 vaccination FAQs

24. 5. 2021

Due to frequent questions from the public about the vaccination against COVID-19 in the Hořovice Hospital, we have prepared a list of the most frequent ones.

I have registered for the vaccination but I still have not received my PIN2 and the text message asking me to book an appointment, but all my friends have.

We cannot specifically influence the choice of people to send the PIN2 to. SMS with PIN2 are sent to registered persons when vaccination appointments are available. At the time the dates are released, registrants are ranked by age, and the same number of SMSes are sent according to the number of dates released. Therefore, it may happen that a younger person is "overtaken" by someone who registered later but is older.

What if the dates you offer don't suit me?

If you do not choose any of the dates offered, the system will put you back into the registered group 3 days after sending the SMS - i.e. you will be waiting for a new SMS with PIN2 again. As soon as our vaccination site lists the new dates, you will receive an invitation SMS with a new PIN2 again. This is repeated a total of three times. However, if you do not make a booking even on the third time, the registration is forfeited.

What if my registration is forfeited? Will I no longer be able to be vaccinated?

No, you can register for the vaccination again at any time.

What vaccine do you vaccinate with?

Our vaccination site is now vaccinating 1st doses with Pfizer vaccine only, and we are continuing to re-vaccinate 2nd doses with Moderna vaccine. People vaccinated with the 1st dose of AstraZeneca vaccine who missed the 2nd dose at the NH vaccination site must now contact their GP. Our vaccination site no longer stocks any AstraZeneca vaccines.

What is the interval between the 1st and 2nd dose of vaccine?

The Ministry of Health Regulation sets the interval for the 2nd dose of the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines at 42 days, and for the Vaxzevria vaccine (AstraZeneca) at 84 days.

What if the date of the 2nd dose is not suitable for me?

It is important to check the date of the 2nd dose when booking the date for the 1st dose. If the date of the 2nd dose does not suit you, do not make a reservation for the 1st dose or cancel the entire reservation. You cannot change your appointment subsequently, except for particularly compelling reasons - e.g. acute surgery. A holiday date is not considered a particularly compelling reason to change the date! If you require a change of date, please email your request with a justification to ocm@nemocnice-horovice.cz

Can I choose a different vaccine for the 2nd dose than I was vaccinated with in the 1st dose?

No, for both doses you must administer the same vaccine from the same manufacturer.

I have had Covid-19, when can I be vaccinated?

90 days from the date of the first positive PCR test.

What if I get sick with Covid-19 after the first dose of the vaccine?

According to the Czech Society of Vaccinology, it is recommended to administer the 2nd dose no earlier than 90 days from the date of the first positive PCR test.

Do I need to have an antibody level test before vaccination after having Covid-19?

No, if 90 days have passed since your positive PCR test, it is possible to have the vaccine.

I had my antibody levels tested and I have a lot of antibodies. Can I still get the vaccine? Won't the vaccine hurt me?

High antibody levels are not a contraindication to receiving the vaccine.

Can I get the vaccine if I am quarantined?

No, this is not possible. If you have had a negative PCR test but have been ordered to be quarantined, you can come in for the vaccination after your quarantine has ended. If you have had a positive PCR test, the earliest you can be vaccinated is 90 days after the date of the positive test.

I have been vaccinated against tick-borne encephalitis, when can I get the Covid-19 vaccine?

After an interval of 14 days from any vaccination.

I am now taking antibiotics, can I come in for the vaccination?

No, you must take a 14 day break after taking antibiotics, then you can come in for the vaccination.

Can I donate blood after the vaccination?

You can donate blood 1 month after the vaccination.

Can I get vaccinated if I am pregnant?

Pregnant women have an increased risk of severe covid-19 disease compared to non-pregnant women of the same age. Covid-19 may increase the risk of premature birth. Pregnancy was an exclusion criterion for inclusion in studies of covid-19 vaccines. Available data do not allow assessment of the effectiveness and safety of covid-19 vaccines in pregnancy. Animal studies of developmental and reproductive toxicology have shown no adverse effect on pregnancy. There were no safety signals in women who became pregnant during the clinical studies. In pregnant women with additional health or occupational risks, vaccination should be approached after individual consideration of the benefits and risks of the vaccine.

At our vaccination site, vaccination of pregnant women can only be carried out on the written recommendation of the registering gynaecologist.
