"As a first measure, we have tightened the hygiene and epidemiological regime by banning visits to all inpatient wards. At the same time, we limited outpatient operations and reduced surgical procedures," says Michal Průša, M.D., director of the Hořovice Hospital. "All patients who had a scheduled operation that could be postponed were contacted by the reception staff with information about rescheduling to a later date. At the same time, we invited the public to consider their visit to our facilities in view of the urgency of the condition, and we also switched to a regime of telephone consultations and dispensing of medicines via e-prescriptions. None of the patients were refused. We send the same information to patients by text message."
"Since last week, we have set up a filtration tent as the only entrance to the hospital. The purpose of building this sorting point is not only to quickly detect possible infections, but above all to protect the sick patients, hospitalized in the hospital, who are the most at risk group at that time," adds Tomas Petsinis, the operational and technical deputy of Hořovice Hospital, to the measures taken. "This tent is manned by medics from the 3rd Medical Faculty of the Charles University and is divided into three parts. The first one is entered by pregnant mothers or a parent with an infant in order to come into direct contact with other patients as little as possible and to speed up their definitive treatment. All other patients enter the second tent. In this tent, screening examinations are carried out according to the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, so that we detect a patient with a potential COVID-19 infection before entering the hospital. The third tent is set up for patients who are suspected to have COVID-19. This tent is further divided into two sections - outpatient, where the patient's examination takes place, and inpatient, where the patient will stay until transport to the facility designated for patients with suspected COVID-19 is arranged. The third tent is equipped with hospital beds, monitors and standard instrumentation," he says, adding: "At the moment we have a limited number of protective equipment, but we are able to ensure the safe operation of the hospital."
"In view of the increasing number of suspected infections, we have taken the next step from today. In agreement with Beroun Hospital, we have transferred some of the internal patients to their care and have created one isolation ward where we will monitor suspected COVID-19 infections in the meantime to separate them from other patients. We continue to transfer patients with proven infections to the infectious wards that have been designated by the Ministry of Health," says MUDr. Průša.
"Due to the ever-increasing number of people infected with COVID-19, we have also built a triage tent at the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital. As part of improving the safety of our patients and staff, we have started triaging incoming patients from today. The triage tent is located right at the entrance to the hospital premises and we ask all those coming to us to use only this entrance," says Nataša Petsini, Director of the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun. "In the Beroun hospital, all rehabilitation and procedures for outpatients have already been cancelled and, as in the Hořovice Hospital, outpatient services and surgical procedures are limited."
If you feel ill and have symptoms of respiratory illness such as cough and temperature, do not enter the hospital and deal with the situation without direct contact with a doctor. Contact your GP by phone or by calling 112 or 1212 to discuss the next steps.
