Department of Neurology

The Neurology Department provides diagnosis and treatment of the entire spectrum of diseases of the nervous system, i.e. the brain, peripheral nerves and other structures. Standard beds, monitored intermediate care beds and monitored intensive care beds are available for hospitalized patients. For patients in standard beds, continuous monitoring of cardiac activity (ECG telemetry) is possible. Thanks to close cooperation with other departments of the hospital and specialised centres in higher-level hospitals, full patient care is ensured.

The neurology department provides diagnosis and treatment of these diseases:

  • vertebrogenic disorders ranging from simple back pain to root syndromes in intervertebral disc prolapse
  • muscle diseases - myopathies, myotonia, myositis, polymyalgia
  • neuromuscular transmission disorders - myasthenia, myasthenic sy.
  • peripheral nerve disorders - polyneuropathy, mononeuropathy, cranial neuropathy - especially peripheral paresis n. VII, III, trigeminal neuralgia, brachial or lumbar plexus disorders, isthmus syndrome
  • spinal cord diseases - vascular myelopathy, inflammatory myelitis, spinal tumours, degenerative spinal processes
  • demyelinating diseases - multiple sclerosis,...
  • stroke, including the possibility of thrombolysis in cooperation with the Ict Centre
  • brain tumours in collaboration with neurosurgeons and oncologists
  • extrapyramidal system disorders - Parkinson's disease, Parkinson plus, hepatolenticular degeneration, hyperkinetic-hypotonic syndromes,...
