Year 2015 in the Hořovice Transfusion Centre

The pre-Christmas time is usually a time of good deeds. However, this is not the case for the Hořovice Transfusion Department, where new blood donors are registered throughout the year. With a total of 5 954 registered donors, the Hořovice transfusion department is the largest in the Central Bohemia Region.

Since the beginning of the year, 483 new "first-time donors" have visited this department, including students of the Hořovice gymnasium and coaches of the Beroun sports club SK Kelti 2008, who came to expand the ranks of voluntary blood donors as part of the "Donate Celtic Blood" event.

"We are always happy about new donors," said Jana Šrámková, head nurse of the transfusion department. "It is a signal to us that people are not indifferent to the health of others. Oftenwe encounter that donors, before it is time to stop donating because of their old age, bring a successor from their family, because they take blood donation as their civic duty," the head nurse emphasized.

The fact that the hospital values its donors is also reflected in the events that the blood transfusion station regularly organises for them, such as the Tomáš Klus concert in 2014, the already regular St. Nicholas gift in December or the St. Valentine's Day event in February - Do you love? Donate blood! For its donors, the Hořovice Hospital also implements a free preventive health programme tailored to the age of the blood donor.
