Vaccination in regional hospitals is likely to start during February

21. 1. 2021

Both hospitals are preparing to start vaccinating the public. As the vaccines are still pending, the vaccination centres are not yet open.

"The vaccination started with the first phase, when health and social services workers are vaccinated, and this phase is still ongoing. At the same time, the registration system was launched, which in the first phase includes another at-risk group of the population, i.e. the oldest people over 80 years of age," said Michal Průša, MD, Director of the Hořovice Hospital.

The whole system is based on registration of residents according to criteria. The current criterion is age over 80. After successful registration, a second stage is required, which books the patient for the date and place of vaccination, and this is simultaneously for the first and second dates, as the vaccine is administered in two consecutive doses.

The registration system is the only way to make an appointment for the vaccination

The GP will help with the booking if the patient cannot manage on their own and has no one in the family to help them, or you can use the help of the operators on the 1221 line. If the patient is unable to attend the hospital, their vaccination will be dealt with by the regional mobile team.

The registration system is currently filling up with candidates who will, depending on the number of vaccines delivered in stages, be distributed through the system to the relevant vaccination sites.

"In the Hořovice Hospital we are finishing the preparation of a new vaccination centre, which will be located in the building of the former Health Institute inside the hospital premises. The entrance to the centre is located opposite the pharmacy. A map will be placed on the hospital's website," described the director.

Those interested in getting vaccinated will receive a text message with the date and time of the vaccination

"Based on this message, the patient will come to the vaccination centre with a simple health questionnaire filled out and signed, which will be available for download on our hospital website. Another fallback option is to fill out the questionnaire on the spot," said Michal Průša, MD, and described the next steps.

The course of vaccination

The vaccination is given to the arm of the non-dominant upper limb. The vaccination itself is almost painless, the arm may be slightly sensitive for 2 - 3 days. Once the vaccination has been administered, you will receive a confirmation of the vaccination and be moved to the waiting room where you must remain for 30 minutes after the vaccination.

"If the patient is immobile, wheelchair access is built in. If it is necessary to accompany the patient, it is necessary to limit it to one person," added the director of the Hořovice Hospital.

After 30 minutes, patients leave, should any health complications occur in the following time, the patient should contact their attending physician.

It is no longer necessary to register for the second dose of the vaccine; the patient will receive the date at the same time as the first dose.

"Finally, I would like to ask everyone to be patient. We will vaccinate as soon as we receive the vaccines and we are convinced that gradually the supply of vaccines will increase so that the waiting time for vaccination will be significantly reduced," assures MUDr. Michal Průša, Director of the Hořovice Hospital.
