The Transfusion Station is preparing the third Valentine's Day event "Do you love? Donate Blood"!

8. 2. 2017

At a time when many hospitals are reporting an acute shortage of blood, the Hořovice Transfusion Station has announced its regular Valentine's Day event "Do you love? Donate blood"! Everyone can join the campaign, whether in love or not. Every donor can look forward to a sweet reward in the shape of a heart after donation on that day.

Among the expected participants of this event are, for example, representatives of the Hořovicko micro-region, who are going to the transfusion station from 6 to 8 a.m. The students of the Beroun Secondary Medical School, the students and teachers of the J. Barrand Gymnasium and the employees of the Hořovice Hospital themselves have contributed significantly to the improvement of the situation with donations during the flu epidemic. Jana Šrámková, head nurse of the Hořovice transfusion unit, set an example with her 107th donation.

Among the regular young donors of the Hořovice transfusion department are adult students of the J. Barrand Gymnasium from Beroun. This was their 22nd joint donation. "A total of 21 current and former students of the Gymnasium took part in this event. We can therefore boast a total of almost two hectolitres of blood donated. And in the current flu wave, this donation was especially important," says Mgr. Marie Štěpničková, professor at the Beroun Gymnasium, who is also the guarantor of the Donate Blood, Donate Life project.

Ms Štěpničková explains that the Donate Blood, Donate Life project is a traditional event at the Hořovice blood transfusion station, which has been attended by third and fourth year students for eight years now, up to three times a year. "Our thanks go to all the students who join the volunteer donors, endure and bring their family members, friends and friends to the ranks of donors," adds the Beroun teacher.

Students Barbora Králová, Tereza Šenfluková and Andrea Žáčková with their sister Veronika participated from the 4th A class.

From 4.B., students Markéta Veselá, Aneta Karamarinovová, Martin Buchbauer, Nela Tesarová, Adéla Vrabcová and Lenka Klierová took part, bringing her mother Martina and aunt Kateřina Kováčová and her friend Veronika Kůrková. Lenka Klierová became a registered bone marrow donor in autumn.

Josefina Pondělíčková, a student from the octave, participated.

Students Kateřina Mazánková and Lenka Matyášová participated from the 3rd A. Katka became a registered bone marrow donor at the same time as the donation.
