Neonatologists and paediatricians met at Zbiroh Castle

7. The Days of Neonatal Case Studies, which took place at the beginning of June at the Zbiroh Castle, dealt with case studies of newborns born in Czech maternity hospitals who were born after the 30th week of pregnancy. The main guarantor and organizer of the event is the annual neonatal department of the Hořovice hospital with the status of the Perinatology Centre for Intermediate Care under the leadership of the head of the department, MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová.

"Every year over 100 doctors and around 80 nurses from all over the Czech Republic and Slovakia meet at Zbiroh Castle. Just like in the child or adult population, there are diseases in newborns that are not so common, but rather rare. By presenting individual cases with a theoretical background, doctors gain the most valuable theoretical and practical experience that they can apply in their personal medical practice. Since over 90% of newborns are born after the 30th week of pregnancy, the conference is aimed at these children in order to benefit the largest possible audience. An important output of the annual conferences is the already published book "Case Reports from Neonatology", where the most interesting case reports from 2015-2019 are written. Currently, a second volume is being prepared, which will include case reports from the last 4 years," evaluates the event, says the Chief Medical Officer.

"I believe that our conference has gained its place. The conference is intended for doctors and nurses from neonatal wards of all levels of care, with a focus on newborns from the 30th week of pregnancy. The participation of neonatologists and paediatricians from all over the Czech Republic and Slovakia brought not only interesting discussions over individual cases, but also very good and valuable information for all participants," described MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová.

During the conference, a new book by Milena Dokoupilová, M.D., "Allergy to Cow's Milk Protein", which is now available in bookstores, was launched.
