Hořovice Hospital traditionally joined the International Nurses' Day, which is celebrated worldwide on 12 May, three days in advance. The nurses and midwives of the hospital received flowers and thanks for the demanding work they do from MUDr. Michal Průša, the director of the hospital, and Blanka Červenková, the head nurse of the Hořovice hospital.

"For me, the people who work here remain the most valuable. I admire our nurses who not only manage their expertise, but also behave in an exemplary manner towards patients and, although they spend a lot of time in the hospital, they are able to take care of their families," said MUDr. Michal Průša. "I personally consider this day very important because without the demanding and responsible work of our nurses, the hospital in Hořovice would not be able to provide such quality services. And this day is an opportunity to remember the importance of this medical profession and to thank our nurses for their commitment," added the director of the hospital in Hořovice.

"In total, more than 300 nurses and midwives work at the hospital in Hořovice and practically this day is a form of recognition for their difficult but important work, which is unfortunately often not appreciated by patients and the public," said head nurse Blanka Červenková. "I would like to thank my colleagues for their demanding work and wish them a lot of strength and optimism on International Nurses' Day, so that they can endure the demanding work pace, support each other and with the coming summer draw a lot of vigour into their difficult but beautiful work", commented the Hořovice nurse.

The hospital management presented flowers and thanked the nurses in all departments and outpatient clinics. These are nurses who started working a few months ago, but also nurses who have been working in Hořovice for decades, such as Anna Zpěváková from Gynaecology, who has been working in the Hořovice hospital for an incredible fifty years!

The International Nurses' Day was created in honour of Florence Nightingale (12 May 1820), who, despite initial resistance from her family, began to dedicate herself to the sick and wounded and was the first to create the foundations of the nursing model still used today during the Crimean War (1853-56). She was responsible for the first education of nurses, with the main emphasis on hygiene, but also kindness and empathy towards the sick.
