Meeting with future nurses

22. 3. 2016

A meeting with the students and management of the Secondary Medical School in Beroun (SZŠ) was held on Monday 21 March by Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis, the owner of the hospital in Horovice and Beroun. He was accompanied by Blanka Červenková, head nurse of Hořovice Hospital and Mgr. Michaela Chvalová, head nurse of the Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital.

Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis together with Mgr. Leona Machkova, Director of the Beroun School of Secondary Education, confirmed the excellent cooperation between the two hospitals and the school. The Headmistress thanked the management of both hospitals for the helpfulness they show during the students' internship and for the provision of scholarships.

The head nurse Blanka Červenková then introduced the third and fourth year students to the work of nurses in the hospital in Hořovice. She shared with them her experience from forty years of practice in this health care facility and urged them to take initiative in their future profession. She answered very openly the students' questions about the practical application, job description and salary of nurses at the hospital in Hořovice.

She was followed by Mgr. Michaela Chvalová, who after a short but very impressive presentation of the Rehabilitation Centre in Beroun emphasized that future nurses must consider the choice of future employment not only on the basis of salary incentives, but also on the quality of working conditions, the cohesion of the work team and other benefits that both the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun and the Hořovice Hospital provide to their employees. These include, for example, supplementary pension insurance, the possibility of further education, active relaxation in the gym or in the hospital swimming pool, participation in sports and cultural events or travel to foreign destinations.

Ing. Sotirios Zavalianis noted that the Beroun and Hořovice hospitals represent top medical facilities in the Czech Republic. They have the most modern equipment and use the most progressive medical procedures. He considers the most important asset of both hospitals to be the people who work there. He urged the students present to consider joining this work team. He also expressed confidence that the prestige of nurses would soon grow as they would be among the most respected professions. He also talked about future investments in both hospitals. They are waiting for the construction of a modern kindergarten for the children of employees or the construction of new departments that will need qualified medical staff.

At the end of the discussion Mgr. Michaela Chvalová invited the students to participate in the Open Day, which will take place at the Rehabilitation Hospital Beroun on Saturday 9 April. Blanka Červenková invited the students to take part in the celebrations that will take place at the hospital in Hořovice next June on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the laying of the foundation stone of the hospital.
