On the occasion of St. Valentine's Day, the event "Do you love? Donate blood!". On this day, a small gift will be prepared for donors - fresh strawberry cakes from the workshop of the well-known hospital confectionery.

"Events focused on blood donation are not new in Hořovice", says the head nurse of the Hořovice blood transfusion station Jana Šrámková. She adds with an understandable amount of pride that the Hořovice Transfusion Station is the largest of its kind in the entire Central Bohemia Region. Last year alone, more than 11,000 donors passed through its doors. A large share of this success is due to a number of professional and interest associations. These undoubtedly include the Hořovice Mothers, members of the Police of the Czech Republic from Beroun and Rudná, students of Beroun secondary schools, etc.
For example, the Hořovice Transfusion Station was visited in the last week of January by new blood donors - the Beroun Bears Fan Club (see photo). The chairman of the fan club is Mr. Martin Kořínek, who organized the whole event. "We would like to show that we are not a group of people who just go to hockey to have a beer and sausage" - says Mr. Kořínek when asked what actually led the fan club to donate blood and adds : "I myself have already had 40 donations and I would like to teach other members of the club about charity. We are a small club with a big heart", says the president of the Beroun Bears Fan Club. Mr. Kořínek is not only trying to bring a little charity among his fellow fans, but as he revealed to us, he is also negotiating with the management of the hockey team to have the players themselves come to donate blood.

"We are also very grateful to our "blood transfusion" to several hundred jubilee donors who come to donate the most important and irreplaceable liquid several times a year", says head nurse Jana Šrámková. She mentions, for example, Mr Jiří Fajrajzl, who came to Hořovice on Monday, 3 February, to donate blood with his three sons, or the family of the regional councillor Ing. Jiří Peřina, who donated blood for the 80th time.
"Despite the fact that we invite all regular blood donors, we want to focus primarily on those interested high school students from the entire Beroun district who have already reached the age of 18," he says. "There is a need to organise these events, as there are more long-term donors but fewer new ones. Young donors are also the primary target of our event "Do you love? Donate blood!". The Transfusion Station will also think about organising a large cultural event in Hořovice, to which it intends to invite jubilee donors and members of the associations with which we have been cooperating for a long time. It will be a small show of our gratitude to them," adds Šrámková.

And here are some statistical figures about the jubilarians in 2013:
