"The laboratory provides its services in several laboratory sections: clinical biochemistry, clinical hematology and immunohematology together with the blood bank," explains Ing. Monika Malcová, head of the laboratory.
The laboratory examination includes not only the determination itself, but is divided into several important parts. The pre-analytical part, including preparation of the patient, collection of biological material, delivery of samples to the laboratory and proper storage of samples until the time of the actual analysis. The analytical part, which is the actual analysis and the post-analytical part represented by the interpretation of the results and their error-free delivery to the sponsor.
"At the turn of the year, the department underwent extensive changes, mainly moving to newly built premises on the ground floor of the left wing of the hospital with a separate entrance. The relocation brought improvement in the quality of services provided and greater working and operational comfort for the employed laboratory technicians," says Ing. Malcová.
This major change was associated with the replacement of the main biochemical analyser with a more powerful Architect 8200 from Abbott Diagnostics. This integrated analyser combines the advantages of modules for immunochemical and biochemical analysis.
The haematology department is equipped with a Cell-Dyn Ruby and Celltac F haematology analyser for blood count analysis and an ACL TOP 300 coagulometer for blood coagulation analysis.
With the expansion of the spectrum of care provided at NH Hospital a.s., not only the number of samples for biochemical and haematological examination is increasing, but also the number of transfusion products prepared for administration to patients by the immunohaematology laboratory and dispensed by the blood bank. The clinical laboratories include a collection room for biological samples. Since April 2016, there are extended working hours in the afternoon from 12:30 to 14:30.
The laboratory places great emphasis on the quality and comprehensiveness of the services provided. One of the means to achieve this goal is building a quality system according to ISO EN ČSN 15 189 Medical Laboratories - Quality and competence requirements. The laboratory regularly participates in external quality control by the SECK and the State Institute of Health in Prague.
