Central operating theatres

The central operating theatres provide facilities for surgical procedures of individual surgical disciplines of the Hořovice Hospital.

The central operating theatres provide facilities for the surgery of individual surgical disciplines, traumatology, orthopaedics, gynaecology, ENT and urology. The premises of the Central Operating Rooms are operationally separated from the other departments and consist of state-of-the-art operating theatres located on the 2nd floor of the new building.

The entire complex of theatres is fully air-conditioned. The operating theatre also includes a so-called "grow-up room". Here the patient is monitored after the surgery until he or she wakes up. The stabilized patient is then transferred to a standard ward or ICU.

The operation of the operating theatres is continuous.

The aim of the care provided in the Central Operating Room Department is primarily patient safety. The safe stay of the patient in the operating theatres is ensured:

  • Implementation of a safety process (identification of the patient and the area to be operated on);
  • use of disposable drapes;
  • proper hand disinfection;
  • positioning of the patient using positioning aids;
  • use of modern safe equipment.

The Department of Central Operating Rooms is equipped with the most modern technology for classical and minimally invasive operations.

Coagulation devices, harmonic scalpel, thunderbeat, modern HD endoscopic and arthroscopic kits, mobile X-ray C-arms are available for the needs of surgeons of different surgical disciplines. An electronic microscope is available for ENT surgical procedures. A laser is available for urological procedures.

All theatres are equipped with operating tables with state-of-the-art positioning equipment and heating for the patient. Individual instrumentation is placed in a container system and after use is transported to the Central Sterilization Department, which provides pre-sterilization preparation and actual sterilization of medical devices for the needs of the Central Operating Rooms. The sterilisation itself is carried out in accordance with current legislation and professional recommendations.
