Easter gift in Hořovice Hospital

29. 3. 2018

On the occasion of the approaching Easter, the nurses from the transfusion station at Hořovice Hospital organized an Easter gift. Everyone who came to donate blood today received a sweet reward in the form of a chocolate egg.

Events for blood donors on important holidays of the year are not a novelty at the Hořovice hospital. "We like to make blood donor days special. Whenever there is a holiday or an important day, we try to remind them of these holidays. Regular events include "Do you love? Give Blood!" which we hold on Valentine's Day. Last year, for example, we also had a St. Nicholas gift," says Mrs. Šrámková, head nurse of the Hořovice Hospital's transfusion department.

The Hořovice Transfusion Station is the largest blood collection point in the Central Bohemia Region. The number of people who want to donate blood is growing. This year alone, 3,216 free blood donors have come so far, including 150 new donors, which is 98 more than last year.

Regular donors include various groups and organisations. This week, a group of representatives of towns and villages from the Hořovicko micro-region came to donate blood. "Several mayors and mayoresses have donated blood before, but some are also first-time donors, and together there are about ten representatives of surrounding towns and villages involved. It is nice to participate together not only in the governance of Hořovice, but also in something as laudable as blood donation."

The Transfusion Department of the Hořovice Hospital is a workplace that cooperates with the Hematopoietic Cell Donor Registry, and those interested can register here. Those interested do not have to be blood donors.
