First, the family headed to MUDr. Ales Klán, the head of the gynaecology and obstetrics department, who welcomed everyone with a smile. The visibly moved chief, who is a grandfather himself and a doctor who has helped thousands of babies in his thirty-year career, talked to the parents Monika and Zdenek Simon about how they manage the demanding care of three children, whether they use the triple-chair programme and what joy their three offspring bring them. Finally, he wished everyone health and happiness in life.
The next stop for the family was at the neonatal ward, the place where Monika and the triplets spent about three months after their birth. Here they were welcomed by MUDr. Milena Dokoupilova, head of neonatology. She is always in contact with the parents of the girls and is very familiar with which of them is Sofina, Valérka and which is Nelinka. She became convinced that the girls are already physically independent, even to the extent that it took a considerable amount of patience to take a family picture with them.
Monika and Zdeněk Simon admitted that the birth of the triplets completely changed their lives. All their everyday worries were put aside and they had to focus all their attention on taking care of the girls. In addition, both young parents have been married since this July. Chief Medical Officer Klán and Chief Medical Officer Dokoupilová wished the parents and the triplets good health and a happy Christmas.
The birth of triplets is always a very special event, as it occurs in one out of approximately seven thousand births. The birth of the first ever triplets in Hořovice took place in the 34th week of pregnancy by caesarean section. Their mother spent the last weeks of her pregnancy in our maternity hospital. Sofia was the first to be born on Monday 8 June 2015 with a birth weight of 1495g, Valérie was the second to be born with a weight of 1258g, the youngest and smallest Nela was born three minutes later and weighed 1048g. The triplets were immediately transferred to the care of the team of Milena Dokoupilova. It was the existence of the neonatology ward, with the status of a perinatology centre, that enabled the birth of the triplets in our maternity hospital.
