Hospital celebrates 60 years since its foundation

10. 5. 2016

The idea of creating a hospital in Hořovice was born around the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. It took more than half a century for this idea to be translated into reality, until the foundation stone for the construction of the district hospital was laid on 19 June 1956. The construction period lasted five years and the opening ceremony of the first post-war health facility in the Central Bohemian Region took place on 9 July 1961.

On this occasion, the management of NH Hospital a.s. invites former employees and memorials, mayors of municipalities and businesses that contributed to the construction of the hospital to a joint meeting to be held on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at 2 p.m. in the newly built hospital dining room. "This meeting will include, among other things, the screening of authentic television footage from the opening ceremony in 1961 and a tour of the hospital for those interested", states Mgr. Kateřina Vicková, marketing specialist of the hospital in Hořovice.

The official opening of the celebrations will be followed by a music festival for employees and the general public of Hořovice and Berounsko from 4 pm in the employee parking lot. The highlight of the festival will be the band MIG 21. The festival will also feature musical groups Bílá nemoc, Olympic Revival, Bigband Rokycany and Free Q. The last two mentioned bands will be played by the medical staff of the Hořovice hospital.

The most important moments in the building of the hospital from its beginning to the present are captured in a publication that will be freely available from the day of the 60th anniversary celebrations at the hospital headquarters.

From 1 June, there will be a simultaneous photographic exhibition on the history of the hospital, which will be on display in the waiting room of the internal outpatient clinics on the first floor of the main hospital building.
