The main character of the series is Ing. Hynek Pochondr, played by Radek Valenta. Radek Valenta has been a member of the ensemble of the Pod Palmovkou Theatre since 2010 and has played a number of important roles both in the theatre and in films and TV series. His successes also include two Thalia Award nominations, for the role of Jerry/Daphne in Sugar and for the role of Raymond Babbitt in Rain Man. Both shows are performed at the aforementioned Divadlo Pod Palmovkou.
Two other actors will be playing several roles in the series, namely doctors, nurses, receptionists...We are talking about Adela Gondíková and Viktor Limro. Adéla Gondíková certainly needs no more introduction, she appears on TV screens as an actress and as a presenter, she also works very often with her brother Dalibor. Although she used to be a member of the ensemble of Divadlo Na Fidlovačce, she is now a freelancer and works mainly with touring theatres. Viktor Limr came to the attention of the audience mainly through his role in the series Family Ties and Very Fragile Relationships, formerly a member of the Švandov Theatre ensemble, now a freelancer. He has already proved his talent at DAMU, where he won the Walter Taub Award, given to the best graduates of the drama department. He regularly appears in performances of the Theatre Summer under the Pilsen Sky and Prague Summer Shakespeare Festivals.
The series was directed and scripted by Vilém Dubnička, a well-known Pilsen actor and director. Vilém Dubnička is behind, for example, the popular festival Theatre Summer Under the Pilsen Sky, he participates in the Czech Television's Running Courses and together with Zdeněk Lahoda, who composed the music for our series, he forms a songwriting duo.
But now to the plot of the series. In the first episode, called Bolehlav, Mr. Pochondr makes an appointment at our hospital for a neurological outpatient clinic for headaches. In this episode, you'll see roughly how a neurologist's examination, CT scan or EEG goes. In Episode 2, titled Over with Breath, Engineer Pochondr comes to the sleep lab for his breathing difficulties. You will see how the admission to the hospital bed, sleep monitoring, spirometry or examination by a lung specialist takes place. The 3rd episode of the series, entitled Heart Matter, starts dramatically when Engineer Pochondr is brought to the hospital by ambulance with a suspected heart attack. In this episode you will see the patient's acute admission, ECG or ECHO examination.
