It is the busiest maternity hospital in the Central Bohemia Region. It currently has a modern obstetrics-gynaecology and neonatology department.

On Monday, 8 June 2015, the first triplets were born in the Hořovice Maternity Hospital at the Sun Gate. Only twenty-four years old, the first-born Monika Pošmurná from Králův Dvůr in Beroun gave birth to three girls. Triplets are one in approximately seven thousand births. "The birth of the triplets took place in the 34th week of pregnancy by caesarean section, the mother spent the last weeks of her pregnancy in our maternity ward," says MUDr. Aleš Klán, head of the Gynaecology and Obstetrics Department, who was present at the birth of the unique babies. The birth of the triplets is a very special moment for the Chief Medical Officer, for which he has been waiting for thirty years, that is, since he has been working in the Hořovice maternity hospital.

Sofia was the first to be born at 8.33 a.m. with a birth weight of 1495g, Valérie was the second to be born with a weight of 1258g, and the youngest and smallest, Nela, was born three minutes later and weighed 1048g. Immediately after birth, the triplets were transferred to the care of MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová, head of the neonatology department. "It was the existence of such a ward and the recent acquisition of the status of the Perinatology Centre that enabled the birth of triplets in our maternity hospital. All three girls had an excellent adaptation after birth and did not require any ventilatory support. The mother is very skilled and all the girls are able to receive their own breast milk. I believe the girls will grow well and get home in about 1-2 months without complications. " adds the headmistress.
"The news that we are expecting triplets was shocking for me. No relative, neither in my family nor in my friend's family, had given birth to twins before, let alone triplets," says the smiling mom. "I was crying the whole time, but luckily everyone reassured me and assured me that it would turn out well in the end. I can imagine the financial burden of raising three girls at once, but we haven't had to buy anything major yet, we got everything we needed from relatives and friends." The new mother is making plans for the future and already reckons that she will have to find a part-time job to devote more time to the girls. "My boyfriend will have to try harder," says Mrs Pošmurná.
Last year, the Hořovice maternity hospital at Sluneční brána recorded more than 1,500 births and became the most sought-after maternity hospital in the Central Bohemia region. Coincidentally, a week after the birth of the triplets, the 35,000th baby in the 54-year history of the Hořovice maternity hospital was born.
