I don’t know where to begin. I’d like to thank you all very much, express my immense admiration, and perhaps share with you the incredibly positive experience I’ve had during every visit to your maternity ward.
On June 10, we had the honor of having you help my girlfriend Adéla and me bring our son Ondřej into the world. I wanted to take this opportunity to express my immense gratitude for your absolutely wonderful care. Everyone I met—from the nurse at the reception desk, to the staff in the examination room, to the doctor, and even the support staff—was incredibly kind, cheerful, and professional under all circumstances. They always explained everything to us and were very empathetic.
Having witnessed all of this, I take my hat off to you and hold you all in the highest regard. Stay strong and keep being as wonderful as you are. I believe that your supervisors and managers also see your excellent work, appreciate you, and value each and every one of you.

On April 2, 2026, I was at your gynecology outpatient clinic for a gynecological procedure. Unfortunately, complications arose, and I had to undergo emergency surgery that very night. Despite significant blood loss, they saved my life.
I would like to thank both physicians very much for their willingness to help, professionalism, responsiveness, compassion, kindness, and above all, for saving my life!

To the entire staff of the Hořovice Maternity Ward,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the wonderful care that my baby and I received at your maternity hospital thanks to you.
I greatly appreciate the excellent collaboration across all departments—from gynecology, through the delivery rooms, to the postpartum ward. The entire care process flows seamlessly and comes across as very professional and well-coordinated.
The entire staff was open, friendly, and highly professional throughout my stay. I always had the opportunity to ask questions, discuss my concerns, or request assistance. My thanks truly go to everyone—from the head physicians, through the surgical team, midwives, nurses, and orderlies, all the way to the cleaning staff. Thanks to their approach and teamwork, we will remember our stay at the maternity hospital only in the best possible light.
I also greatly appreciate the emphasis on keeping the expectant mother informed—specialists from various fields were literally available on call, and often I didn’t even have time to contact them because they came to me proactively, several times a day. Lactation consultants and doulas were also available, as were staff from the neonatal, gynecology, and postpartum wards, day and night.
I’d like to extend a special thank you to midwife Dana Roková, who guided me through both my preparation for childbirth and the delivery itself, and was a great source of support to me the entire time. I would also like to thank Dr. Veronika Kadeřábková for her exceptionally compassionate and empathetic approach during consultations, as well as Dr. Dita Pelikánová, who ultimately oversaw the procedure.
I highly appreciate the option to use the family suite. This facility offers sufficient comfort not only for the mother but also for the father, and allows both parents to adapt together to their new life situation. In my case, since the birth was by C-section and my mobility was more limited afterward, staying in a modern, well-equipped, and comfortable room was a huge help. Another major benefit was that the room provided enough space and quiet even for my partner’s work obligations, allowing him to keep us company throughout our entire stay.
If I were to summarize my experience specifically, I especially appreciate the combination of expertise, a compassionate approach, and excellent organization of care in a modern setting. Throughout my stay, I felt confident that both my baby and I were receiving the very best care. Once again, we’d like to express our heartfelt thanks!

I couldn’t find another way to thank you for your response in the consultation forum, so I took the liberty of writing to you. Thank you very much; I will definitely have some further tests done. I’m 56 years old, and the last five years have been particularly challenging with my parents—my dad was bedridden and receiving home care—so naturally, all sorts of scary thoughts cross my mind when I realize how long I’ve been neglecting myself and pushing myself to the limit.
I wish you peaceful days and thank you for your work. I have great respect for physicians—my mother was a pediatrician, though I’m not continuing the family tradition. I’m a chemist, but right after college I switched to working as an editor (I write mainly about health, so I’m kind of like the classic “the cobbler’s children have no shoes”—someone who gives advice to everyone but does almost nothing for herself).

Hello, Doctor, Chief physician,
On behalf of my entire family, I’d like to express our immense gratitude and thanks to the entire staff for those few weeks during which you cared for our daughter at DIOP (and later briefly in the pediatric ward) following her surgery for neuromuscular scoliosis.
I am a stepmother and also a physician—a neurologist—and I realize all too well that if there is one role in the system that is incredibly demanding, it is the role of the caregiver—whether for the frail elderly or palliative care patients I work with, or for children with disabilities or long-term health limitations, which are your specialty.
Even though I work in healthcare, for our family, our daughter’s surgery and postoperative recovery were a nightmare that paralyzed us for at least a year before it even happened. We had gone through six weeks without standing during her last procedure in 2024, and it left quite a mark on all of us.
Thanks to our stay at DIOP, however, we as caregivers were able to breathe a sigh of relief, knowing that someone would not only meet our child’s basic physiological needs but would also provide genuine rehabilitation, a coughing assistant, and other (for a patient like our daughter) necessities—needs that, for example, are completely overlooked during hospitalization at FNM due to a lack of nursing staff capacity and must be arranged by the family itself during the hospital stay. All of this while knowing that, in addition to physical care, our daughter also received emotional support and many warm, kind words from the entire staff, the volunteers (and Kajči).
So we’d like to say a HUGE thank you to every informal caregiver and parent—it may sound like a cliché, but DIOP’s services provided us with a much-needed respite that we rarely get in our lives as parents of a child with a disability.
We’d also like to ask—do you have any major meetings or group events coming up in the near future where a larger number of staff members will be gathered? We’d like to send you a small thank-you package, and it would probably be best if it reached as many people as possible while it’s still fresh :-)
If not, it’ll just show up at the department sometime…

I didn’t feel very well during the first few days. I tried to accept everything as it was. It was thanks to your empathy, kindness, and care that I was able to do so. At that moment, you were all angels at IMCU—whether nurses or physicians.I’d like to thank Dr. Beneš for his compassionate approach, empathy, and his signature sense of humor. Thanks to that, I realized that it is possible to make a person’s situation easier, especially when they’re not feeling well—not only through professional expertise, but also through humanity. They say that excellent staff is a hallmark of good leadership. Your head nurse, Pavlínka, is the heart and soul of the ward—always accommodating, compassionate, kind, and empathetic. She deserves our deepest thanks and admiration for managing such a demanding ward—often filled with patients who are helpless—so perfectly.You are a well-coordinated team—from the nurses to the orderlies. A team where compassion, understanding, and excellent care prevail. I know you can’t please everyone, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your care. Nothing can repay you for it. I am writing to you because I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the team of physicians and nurses who treated me in the emergency room on February 24, 2026, from approximately 8:45 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
I was transported to the hospital by ambulance with very high blood pressure; I was weak and filled with anxiety. I am currently going through a very difficult time in my life following the loss of my mother and dealing with the matters associated with it. This made it all the more touching to me to see the incredible understanding, kindness, and compassion with which your Emergency Department staff treated me.
Even though the test results showed no acute physical injury, the most important thing that the especially kind nurse and the rest of the staff gave me was peace of mind and a sense of safety. Their caring approach was just as important to me at that moment as the medication I was given.

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely and wholeheartedly thank you for the care you provided us at the Hospital Hořovice maternity ward. I felt the need to write to you because what you do is incredibly meaningful.
We were already familiar with Hospital Hořovice from previous experiences. In past years, we visited it several times due to injuries or illnesses among the children at our summer camp, which we organize every year in Cheznovice, near Hořovice. Even back then, we had very good experiences with the hospital, and that also contributed to my girlfriend’s decision to give birth at your facility.
Although we live about 200 km from Hořovice, the distance didn’t matter to us at all. Looking back, we can say it was absolutely the right decision.
From our very first contact, we were impressed by the calm and modern environment, the superbly equipped delivery rooms, and above all, the incredibly compassionate, empathetic, and highly professional approach of the entire staff. A big thank you goes to the team at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, as well as to our colleagues in the Postpartum and Neonatology Departments.
Unfortunately, complications arose during the delivery. But it was precisely in those moments that your professionalism, teamwork, and composure truly shone through. Thanks to the quick and correct decisions made by the entire team, we did not lose our baby. We consider the fact that we are able to be at home with our daughter today to be the result of your expertise, experience, and compassionate care.

I would like to thank the entire staff of the delivery rooms, the gynecology department, the postpartum ward, and the neonatal unit—from the physicians and nurses to the orderlies and cleaning staff. Throughout my stay, I never felt like a “patient,” but rather like a woman being cared for with respect and concern. I greatly appreciate that I never felt I was bothering anyone with my questions, requests, or simply my presence. The physicians and nurses here do an absolutely wonderful job. It helped me a great deal that everything was always explained to me clearly, and whenever I felt uncertain, the staff was happy to offer advice. It was precisely this compassionate and patient approach that gave me the peace of mind and confidence I needed during those first days with my daughter.
I also greatly appreciate the comprehensive care you offer to mothers. I consider the opportunity to use the services of a lactation consultant and a doula right here in the hospital to be crucial support for women during such an important time in their lives.

My wife, L.T., and our son, L.T., were hospitalized at your facility in December: my wife in the gynecology department (for childbirth and then an abdominal wall infection), and our son in the pediatrics department (for the flu). I wanted to thank you very much for all the care they received. Starting with the physicians (with a special shout-out to Dr. Marie Pohořelská, who attended to my wife with unparalleled care, including follow-up outpatient wound checks), through the nurses, all the way down to the support staff. Just before that, they had both been hospitalized at Motol, which made the incredible helpfulness of your staff stand out even more in comparison to Motol’s: nothing was a problem, everything could be worked out, everyone was kind—in short, I can’t praise your hospital highly enough. As the icing on the cake, when I left the hospital, I paid the full parking fee for three days, even though as part of my hospitalization I was only supposed to pay 250 CZK per day. I’m working out the refund with Mr. Kadlec, who is once again being very helpful and responds even outside of business hours.
Thank you very much once again, and kudos to such a wonderful staff.

On Monday, September 8, 2025, I underwent an examination at the endoscopy outpatient clinic, which I approached with some anxiety. Thanks to the professional approach and compassion of Chief Physician Dr. Voška and Assistant Nurse Paštyková, all my worst-case scenarios and fears melted away. Chief Physician Dr. Voška is truly an expert and, above all, the right person for the job. I really couldn’t have asked for a better team—from the procedure itself to the explanations and answers to my questions. I’ve had similar exams in the past, but it never occurred to me that even this kind of exam could be such a “positive experience.”

Last week, our son was born at the Hořovice Maternity Hospital. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you for all the care I received during my pregnancy and after giving birth. I attended prenatal appointments with Dr. Pohořelská, who was always kind and happy to answer all my questions.
I’d like to thank midwife Jungwirthová, whom I chose as part of the individualized care program for expectant mothers. It’s wonderful that you offer this service. The midwife and Dr. Pelikánová were a great source of support for me during childbirth. They were both absolutely amazing. Thanks to them, I had a beautiful and respectful birth experience.
In the postpartum ward, we took advantage of the option to stay in a family room, where our older son was with us. Thank you for all the care and the kind attitude of the entire staff. Thank you to Dr. Šustrová and all the nurses who took such wonderful care of our little Adam. We couldn’t have asked for better care.

Dear Director,
Last September, I underwent my first surgery at your hospital’s gynecology department to determine what was actually going on in my abdomen. The CT scan results were not clear enough. This was followed by treatment in the oncology department to shrink the tumor so it could be surgically removed. During that time, I experienced various symptoms on several occasions, for which I sought care at your outpatient clinic and the evening emergency room. There, too, I was met with a very helpful and accommodating attitude. The second surgery took place at the end of January of this year. Both surgeries were performed by Dr. Folauf. I am currently undergoing follow-up cancer treatment.
I am very pleased to say that I was extremely satisfied with the course of my treatment and, above all, with the attitude of the entire staff—from Chief Physician Teslík to the other physicians, nurses, and all the support staff. Everyone was very kind and accommodating—not to mention their professional expertise. The environment and facilities are also very pleasant. I never thought I’d be able to say that my stay in the hospital was “great.” But that’s exactly how it was at your hospital.

Our personal experience was even better than all the positive reviews that led us to choose your maternity ward. For what are essentially Czech prices (we paid extra for a private midwife and, subsequently, a family postpartum room), we received an environment, services, and care on par with a Swiss private clinic. Plus, it’s just a short distance from the beautiful countryside of the Křivoklát region, where we moved from the capital years ago. What an incredible combination!
All the staff treated us kindly, warmly, and professionally. We’d especially like to mention Dr. Dita Pelikánová and midwife Dana Roková. Hello, on December 14, 2024, my daughter Zorka was born at your hospital❤️ We’re from Vejprnice near Plzeň, and coming to your hospital was the best decision of my life. I have never experienced such humanity from all the staff members—who took turns caring for me during my three-day stay—at any hospital, let alone at the maternity ward at the University Hospital in Plzeň. Everyone always treated me very kindly and with a smile, which is sadly a rarity these days. Your chief physician on the neonatal department is an amazing woman who is perfectly suited for her role. The midwife and physician who were with me during the birth were wonderful; and they helped me overcome some of the terrible memories I have from my first birth. They were patient with me, and I felt safe with them; when they were with me, I suddenly felt as if I knew everything would turn out well—and it did. Zorinka is celebrating her 13-month birthday today, and she’s just blossoming. She picks up a lot of mischief from her little brother, but even so, she’s completely different from him. And I just wanted to say a huge thank you to you all for everything ♥️
I’m also a nurse and work with many employees, and I’m fascinated by your know-how—how your staff manages to be kind and accommodating in every situation. You’ve also opened my eyes to the fact that even though your ward was closed due to a surge in respiratory illnesses, the child’s dad and sibling were able to come anytime—because they aren’t just visitors, they’re family ♥️—and that’s how it should be everywhere; unfortunately, it’s often the exact opposite.
In short, I praise you always and everywhere, and I recommend you to all my pregnant friends.

The maternity ward, gynecology department, and postpartum unit are perfectly equipped; there’s a pleasant atmosphere, and in the family suite where we stayed, we felt like we were in a five-star hotel.
The staff on the ward are amazing—whether physicians, nurses, midwives, or cleaning staff—in a word, angels! I wish every employer could have such an amazing staff, because they are the ones who make this maternity ward a place with a heart.
I’d especially like to thank Dr. Veronika Kadeřábková and midwife Markéta Korcová, thanks to whom the delivery was quick and took place in a pleasant atmosphere—I’ll look back on it with great fondness. Last week, I underwent a rather complicated hernia surgery in Hořovice. The care I received was of the highest quality. I would like to thank Chief Physician MUDr. Zeithaml and his team for their outstanding care.
The evening after the surgery, I had a brief fainting spell, and within one minute of ringing the bell, a qualified nurse and a physician were at my bedside. I have experience with top-tier clinics in Prague, but in terms of patient care, your facility far surpasses them. Everything worked flawlessly.
In this context, I find myself wondering: why does it work so well here, while other places face problems?

On the night of October 2–3, 2023, I was treated at the Emergency Department of the Internal Medicine Outpatient Clinic at Hospital Hořovice by Dr. Inna Demchenko. My problem was high blood pressure, as high as 227/121. I was very pleased and reassured by Dr. Demchenko’s thoroughly professional and empathetic approach; she handled the situation with complete calm and precision, even though my body did not respond as quickly as expected. Nevertheless, she managed to bring the situation under control, and after confirming that things were progressing favorably, I was discharged to recover at home. That very morning, Dr. Demchenko personally called me to check that everything was okay. I was immensely pleased by such a wonderful approach to the patient.
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere thanks to Dr. Demchenko, as well as to her colleague on duty—whose name I do not know—and to wish them every success in their personal and professional lives.

Hello, two weeks ago my son Štěpán was born at the Hořovice maternity hospital, and I’d like to thank you for the amazing care, for which I’m very grateful. I’d love to get pregnant and give birth again, even though that’s not in the plans anymore—which probably says it all. Even the prenatal checkups were always pleasant, stress-free, and without long waits. Dr. Pelikánová is a miracle—always smiling, she explains everything beautifully. I never felt like I was bothering her or that she didn’t have time for me; I always looked forward to seeing her. I also saw other physicians a few times, and they were always pleasant, as were the nurses and midwives. In the delivery room, I was attended by midwife Kateřina Meeganová, and I still say that I was luckier than I deserved—she was the best person I could have had there. At every moment, I felt that she knew what she was doing, that I was in the best possible hands—I had absolute trust in her. She was professional, yet kind, empathetic, and calm. If I were to give birth again and it were possible to arrange for her to be my birth companion, I think I’d take advantage of it, because it would be wonderful to have the assurance that I’d have such an amazing professional as Ms. Meegan by my side during childbirth. As for the physician at the birth, I was really worried throughout my pregnancy about who I’d end up with. At one point, I became quite fixated on the idea that I had to somehow make sure Dr. Pelikánová was on duty. Of course, you usually can’t plan the exact start of labor. :-) In the end, Dr. Andert was the one who attended my delivery, and I’m very glad that’s how it turned out. I never would have imagined that a physician—especially a male physician—could have such a sensitive and empathetic approach. But Dr. Andert seemed tailor-made for this job; his soothing voice was exactly what I needed, especially when complications arose after the birth—first with my son and then with me. Dr. Pohořelská was then called in for a postpartum checkup; although I slept through most of her visit, she was very kind both before and after the checkup and tried to explain everything clearly to me, even though I was “a little” panicking. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the name of the pediatric physician who treated my son after the birth, but she was very young and seemed like an angel at that moment. I was worried about whether my son was okay, but she was so calm and explained everything so clearly that I felt confident everything would be absolutely fine, and after that I wasn’t afraid anymore. The other physicians and nurses in the neonatal unit and the postpartum ward were also wonderful, friendly, and helpful. And it wasn’t just them—all the staff I encountered were great. I don’t think I met a single person who was unpleasant, which was great—it makes you feel at ease right away, even when your hormones are all over the place and you’re not in your familiar surroundings. The lactation consultant, Lucie Daňková, also helped me a lot; she was such a reliable anchor for me in the postpartum ward and provided a lot of emotional support as well. The same goes for the doula, whose name I unfortunately don’t remember. When I started feeling down because my milk hadn’t come in yet, she really supported me. I should add that I’m currently breastfeeding without any supplemental feedings—I hope it lasts.
So, thank you all so much; I’ll always have fond memories of you.

On September 15, 2021, my daughter Anežka was born at the U Sluneční brány Maternity Hospital, and I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude to the entire staff who cared for me on the day of her birth. From the moment I was admitted, through the regular check-ups every two hours, all the way through the birth, I didn’t encounter a single problem or an unpleasant person. Even though there was a real rush of births that day and everyone surely had their hands full, they treated me very kindly, and I didn’t feel like I was in a hospital at all.
A huge thank you goes especially to midwife Natálie Plešmídová, who, together with Dr. Pelikánová, guided me through the entire delivery professionally and, above all, with empathy. Both of them communicated with me, explained everything to me, and patiently put up with my hysteria. Even though I said I never want to give birth again, the truth is that while the pain isn’t forgotten, the further away the birth gets, the more it fades into a “fog,” and I remember it fondly precisely because of Dr. Pelikánová and the midwife.
For my next pregnancy, your maternity hospital will once again be my clear choice, and I hope to have such a wonderful staff with me during the birth again.
