World Health Day and new prevention programmes

5. 4. 2016

On 7 April 1948, the World Health Organization was founded and World Health Day is celebrated annually to commemorate this event. Various events are held around the world, focusing mainly on prevention. On this occasion, the medical staff of the Hořovice hospital continued the successful preventive programmes for blood donors that have been implemented here for almost two years and have now prepared further innovations in the field of prevention for the general public.

Today's times force us to live in daily stress and tension, many people suffer from sleep disorders, eating disorders and this can result in serious health complications. Therefore, the medical staff of the hospital in Hořovice have continued the successful prevention programmes for blood donors that have been implemented for almost two years and have now prepared further innovations in the field of prevention for the general public.

"Preventing diseases is absolutely crucial for us," says Markéta Veverková, MD, head of the internal medicine department, who together with her deputy Jana Ziková, MD, developed the individual programmes. "We would like to offer prevention to our patients in those areas of health which, from our point of view, are most often threatened by a risky lifestyle. At the same time, it is also intended for patients who do not currently have difficulties, but know that their direct relative had a serious heart disease, stroke or diabetes mellitus at a young age, because in these diseases, in addition to a risky lifestyle, heredity also plays a significant role. For these diseases we can estimate the level of risk or detect the disease in its early stages," adds the primary school head in Horovice.

Interested parties can choose examinations targeted at individual systems or just individual examinations according to their preference on the hospital's website. For more information about the individual programmes, their content or reimbursements, visit the Hořovice Hospital website, the internal department website or the "Looking for prevention" tab.

In connection with the aforementioned World Health Day, the Hořovice Hospital has prepared a preventive event for the public in cooperation with the Secondary Medical School in Beroun, which will take place on Thursday 7 April in the morning. "Visitors to the hospital will be able to have their blood pressure and blood sugar measured by students of the medical school in the lobby of the main entrance. They will be rewarded with fresh fruit," says Mgr. Kateřina Vicková, Marketing Specialist at Hořovice Hospital.
