Hand hygiene is one of the cornerstones of modern medicine, yet it is often underestimated. Regular hand washing and disinfection significantly reduce the risk of infection transmission and protect patients and staff. This is the focus of World Hand Hygiene Day, which falls on 5 May each year and is part of the World Health Organization's (WHO) Save Lives: Clean Your Hands global campaign.
AKESO holding, of which Hospital Hořovice is a part, has long been involved in this initiative. On the occasion of this day, the Hospital Hořovice traditionally holds an awareness-raising event called Clean Hands Day, during which visitors learn when and how to wash their hands properly and how to carry out effective hand disinfection.
Do you think you wash your hands properly? What if we showed you that there are some places you regularly miss? At our booth you will find:
✔ Practical demonstration of proper hand washing and disinfection techniques
✔ UV lamp test to reveal the most frequently missed areas
✔ Useful tips for daily hand hygiene at home, at work and on the go

"Well set up and correctly performed hand hygiene is one of the simplest yet most effective ways to protect your health and the health of others. Hand washing and hygienic hand disinfection play a key role in infection prevention and control. It's not just about how - it's also about when. It is also in these details that the real quality of care is revealed," says Mgr. Blanka Hošková, LL.M., DiS., Quality and Education Manager at Hospital Hořovice.
But the message of World Hand Hygiene Day does not end at the hospital door. Proper hand hygiene is an essential part of protecting everyone's health - at home, at work, at school and in public.
Come and test how good your hands really are. Because sometimes it's something as simple as washing your hands properly that can make the biggest difference.
