Her interest was focused mainly on the Department of Long-term and Intensive Nursing Care for Children (hereinafter DIOP), which she visited accompanied by a detailed explanation by the head of the children's ward and DIOP, MUDr. Mahulena Exnerová.
"I am extremely pleased with the Commissioner's interest in our DIOP department in particular. It was a great honour for me to guide her and show her the work of the whole team. I perceive her long-term interest in the issue of care for seriously ill children and their families, including palliative care in general, very positively. She is truly a person in the right place, with great erudition and a sincere interest in what is happening in this field. The meeting with her was very pleasant and enriching," said the head of the children's ward, MUDr. Mahulena Exnerová.
The visit to the hospital began in the presence of the hospital director, MUDr. Michal Průša, who welcomed the Commissioner and with whom they discussed the current situation in the health care system and the services provided. This was followed by a tour of the premises of the hospital in Hořovice.
The Commissioner spent most of her time in the children's ward and the DIOP ward, where she listened with sincere interest to the stories of all the patients who were hospitalized at the time. She also met some of the members of the multidisciplinary team that cares for seriously ill children and their families. Her next steps were to the delivery rooms, where she saw the environment with the assistance of midwives and learned about the trends in modern obstetrics.
The visit to the hospital in Hořovice was in a friendly and calm spirit. Despite the seriousness of the topics discussed, the atmosphere was relaxed and pleasant.
"We believe that this is not the last time we have welcomed such a distinguished visitor to Hořovice and that we will soon be able to meet with Mrs. Laurenčíková again to discuss common topics," said Mrs. Exnerová in conclusion.
