Flower essences are an all-natural product that harmonizes emotions and thoughts. They are prepared from wild flowers, plants and trees. They are not addictive and have no side effects.
"In the delivery room, we use flower essences with aromatherapy not only to support natural childbirth, but also to trigger contractions and further relieve pain," describes midwife Mgr. Dana Roková.
Flower essences are used both internally and externally through a number of pulse and acupuncture points and sites. Inhaling the essence sprayed into the air is also very effective. The most effective option, however, is a combination of all three.
Caesarean section and flower essences
Flower essences are also used in the postpartum period to induce mental well-being and promote physical health. Petra Kufner, a general nurse in the six-week ward, uses them especially with women after complicated births or caesarean sections as part of mobilisation. "For example, in the form of reflexology. And also in the care of the scar after a caesarean section," adds Petra Kufnerová.
Hořovice midwives and nurses from the Department of Gynaecology and Sixth Childbirth got acquainted with the relaxation technique of flower essences a year ago at a professional seminar entitled "The Way of Healing Touch or Flower Essences of Birth in Obstetrics and Gynaecology". With its lecturer Ing. Eva Kopasová, who is the author of the concept of The Way of Gentle Touch, they then met at a follow-up seminar where they exchanged experiences with the use of flower essences.
