The grand opening of the Rehabilitation Centre was a success!

16. 6. 2015

Despite the fact that the weather on Saturday 13th June was quite bad for us, the opening ceremony of the completed Rehabilitation Centre of the Beroun Hospital was a great success. People were very interested not only in the prepared rich program, but also in the tour of the interiors of the centre. The beautiful modern premises, equipped to the highest standards, were admired by more than 500 visitors who patiently waited for more than half an hour in small groups. There were words of admiration, the most amusing of which was the statement of one gentleman who laconically said "I thought I was in Beroun, but I'm somewhere in Dubai...." The luxuriously equipped new part of the Rehabilitation Centre was also seen by most of the speakers, and again there were only words of admiration and praise.

Ribbon-cutting ceremony, tour of the main, especially the new premises of the Rehabilitation Centre with invited guests and at 2 pm short speeches by former Mayor of Beroun Jiří Besser and Senator Jiří Oberfalzer (ODS), Petr Bendel (ODS), former chairman of the Health Care Trade Union Jiří Schlanger, deputy governor of the Central Bohemian Region and mayor of Hořovice Jiří Peřina (ČSSD) and on behalf of the professional public doc. Olga Švestková, M.D., Head of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine at the General University Hospital and the 1st Faculty of Medicine of the Charles University, opened a varied afternoon programme, pleasantly moderated by Libor Bouček.

A number of well-known artists and groups performed - Voilá, Matěj Vávra, Martha and Tena Elefteriadu, Těžkej Pokondr, Monika Bagárová, Rytmus, Tereza Kerndlová and also Jana Kirschner, who literally flew with her five-month-old daughter from London, where she now lives, for this performance. The culmination of the programme was a more than an hour-long performance by the biggest icon of popular music of the last decades - Karel Gott with his band Boom! Band.

Hundreds of people in front of the large stage and big screens were not deterred by the storm and subsequent showers, and all the tents with refreshments and equipment were also well taken care of. It's just a pity that the children couldn't enjoy the attractions prepared for them as much. But in the evening the weather calmed down and by the time the most expected star of the programme - Karel Gott - performed, there were already well over a thousand people in the hospital park, who applauded Karel Gott's performance and forced him to play a few of his most popular hits as an encore. Karel Gott has ordered his own rehabilitation for the fans in the hospital, and it's working. Because he can rehabilitate the soul and the psyche, and that is also much needed. The whole event, which was praised in superlatives by the visitors as they left the hospital grounds, ended with a beautiful fireworks display shortly after 10 pm.

"I am very happy that the opening, despite the bad weather, was so successful and, most importantly, that many people appreciated our efforts to provide health care in a different way than we usually do. A hospital is not usually a place one likes to go to. We are making a long-term investment in our hospitals to make the environment as pleasant as possible for patients, with the most modern and also kind care. What we have prepared for the opening of the Rehabilitation Centre in Beroun is just the icing on the cake," said Sotirios Zavalianis, owner of the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital, after the event.
