A several-month training programme aimed at expanding professional competences in the field of perioperative care brought new practical experience and a broader view of cooperation across departments to the medical staff of the Hořovice Hospital and the Rehabilitation Hospital in Beroun. Graduates of the course can now apply their knowledge in everyday practice.

At the end of the year, a ceremonial completion of the educational course accredited by the Ministry of Health of the Czech Republic "Selected activities in perioperative nursing care" took place , which was intended for general nurses and midwives of the Hořovice Hospital and the Rehabilitation Hospital in Beroun. The programme was designed to deepen the participants' professional knowledge and to prepare them for the implementation of specialised activities in the field of perioperative patient care, i.e. care provided before, during and after surgery.

Graduates of the course gained professional competence to prepare instrumentarium and other necessary materials in the perioperative period. The training also included the acquisition of procedures to ensure the constant readiness of the workplace for surgical procedures and a comprehensive understanding of the functioning of perioperative operations.

The course included 40 hours of theoretical instruction and 80 hours of practical training. The participants had the opportunity to experience care outside their regular workplace - first in the theoretical part and then directly in practice, where they observed and actively participated in the various processes of perioperative care. In order to successfully complete the course, it was necessary to continuously demonstrate the acquired practical skills and to pass a written professional test at the end.

"We greatly appreciate the commitment of all participants and their active approach. We believe that the acquired knowledge will contribute to the further development of quality and safe care within our hospital," said the professional guarantor of the course Mgr. Martina Popílková.

" We consider systematic training of our employees as a key prerequisite for maintaining a high level of care. This course not only brings professional growth to the participants, but also strengthens cooperation between the individual departments of the hospital. That is why we will offer the course to other people from both hospitals."

The participants evaluated the course very positively. In particular, they appreciated the opportunity to gain new experiences, to understand the broader context of perioperative care and to deepen the cooperation between the different teams of the hospital. Although each of them has been working for many years in their department, the scope and nature of care provided varies from department to department, and this opportunity to share with each other was extremely beneficial for the participants.

We congratulate all the graduates on their successful completion of the course and thank them for their professional approach and motivation to further their education.
