Reconstruction of the Hořovice hospital in the last phase...

30. 7. 2014

MUDr. Luděk Pelikán, Director of the Hořovice Hospital, summarizes the results achieved and points to the reconstruction priorities for the second half of 2014.

The reconstruction of another wing of the hospital in Hořovice continues intensively. Until now, the children's, internal medicine, neurology and gynaecology wards have been reconstructed very nicely. During the summer and early autumn, the neonatal intensive care unit and both surgical wards should be operational. The completion of the fourth operating theatre is also being completed. The intensive renovation is linked to several new projects that we are launching. Thanks to the excellent work of the obstetrics and neonatal wards, we have been able to obtain the status of a perinatology centre, where premature and immature babies can be cared for. We also managed to open a long-term intensive and resuscitation care unit for children, as the first hospital in the Czech Republic. With the arrival of several excellent specialist surgeons, we can think of building a surgical centre for the treatment of non-specific intestinal inflammation.

However, in order not to stay only with specialised projects, we have also focused on the development of preventive programmes within the framework of healthy lifestyle, prevention of cardiovascular diseases and obesity. What pleases me most about these projects is the fact that we have managed to establish a very pleasant cooperation with primary schools, gymnasium and leisure and interest associations in Horovice.
At the same time, I would like to thank all those who are involved in the development of the hospital and I believe that we will be able to maintain and further improve this trend.
Wishing you a wonderful summer and best regards
Luděk Pelikán, Director of Hořovice Hospital
