New Year's baby is named Stela - U Sluneční brány Maternity Hospital once again confirmed its leadership in the number of births in the Central Bohemia Region

The Hořovice maternity hospital U Sluneční brány can set another record. For the first time in its history, it recorded 1,738 births last year, 37 more than the previous year, which confirms its exceptional position in the Central Bohemian Region and places it among the largest and most modern maternity hospitals in the Czech Republic.

The first born baby is Stela Hlaváčková. She was born at 7:13 am, less than eight hours after midnight on New Year's Eve. "It was a quiet service. We had an average number of births, five, with the exception that on New Year's Eve we had twins, two girls. Stela waited for the new year. Then there are also hectic days when we have ten or more births", comments Věra Pavlů, MD, head of the Hořovice maternity hospital, who was on duty on New Year's Eve and the first day of the year. "Our maternity hospital is already known throughout the region. That's why women come here not only from the adjacent Spad area, but also from Prague," she adds.

The New Year baby girl measured 49 centimetres and weighed 3,520 kilograms. Her mother, twenty-eight-year-old Lucie Hlaváčková, comes from nearby Libečov and works in the administration of a logistics company. This is her first birth. "Stela was born according to the original plan. The delivery date was actually set for the first day of the new year," says Stela's mother. She didn't hesitate in choosing a maternity hospital: "Not only because of the short distance to Hořovice, but also because of the very favourable references from friends who had given birth here before," the newlywed mother tells us. She expresses her gratitude to the doctors and nurses who helped her during the birth.

A day later, representatives of the Hořovice hospital came to wish little Stela and her mother. Kamila Přádová. The delegation of ladies wished the new mother and Stela health and happiness, and presented Mrs. Hlaváčková with a gift package from the hospital pharmacy.

"The Maternity Hospital U Sluneční brány in the Hořovice Hospital is very popular among mothers. They are attracted not only by the modern equipment with all the comforts, but also by the favourable references and the friendly attitude of our staff," says MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová, head of the neonatology department. The best proof of her claim is the ever-increasing number of births - while at the time of the privatisation of the hospital in 2007 the number of births was around 1,000, last year there were 1,701 and last year slightly more - 1,738. A total of 1,760 babies were born, of which 857 were girls and 903 were boys. Twenty-one mothers gave birth to twins.
