This year, clinical laboratories received a fully automated EU 8600 urinalysis analyzer. This state-of-the-art instrument enables detailed chemical and microscopic analysis. Samples are loaded and evaluated automatically and results are available quickly and with high accuracy. This is important not only when urinary tract infections or kidney disease are suspected, but also when monitoring diabetes and other conditions.
"Thanks to the new analyser, we can process up to 100 values simultaneously. We have results quickly and reliably, which is very helpful for doctors when making treatment decisions," says Ing. Monika Malcová, Head of Clinical Laboratories at Hořovice Hospital.
Last year, a new hematology line CAL 6000, which is used for automatic processing of blood samples, was also put into operation. This technology allows laboratory technicians to perform high-quality analyses of blood, such as blood counts or reticulocytes (young immature red blood cells), in large volumes and with maximum accuracy. In addition, digital morphology allows for detailed visualization of blood cells and the detection of even minor pathological changes.
Modern instrumentation brings greater efficiency and accuracy to laboratories, which has a direct impact on the quality of patient care. In 2024, more than 70,000 blood tests were performed at the Hořovice hospital - 83% more than a decade ago. Automation is thus essential to cope with the growing number of examinations. "Our goal is to ensure that every patient has timely and reliable test results. Thanks to automated technologies, waiting times are reduced and doctors can react more quickly to a patient's medical condition," adds laboratory methods expert Zdeňka Váchová, RNDr.
Thanks to the investment in the CAL 6000 haematology unit and the EU8600 urine analyser, the clinical laboratories of Hořovice Hospital have become one of the top workplaces with state-of-the-art equipment that ensures high quality diagnostics and contributes to safe and effective patient care.
