International Nurses' Day

13. 5. 2019

On 12 May, the whole world celebrates International Nurses' Day. This important day is not only the anniversary of Florence Nightingale's birth, but also a celebration of the nursing profession. The work of a nurse is a very demanding, highly professional and prestigious profession. It is a job with people - for people.

"I would like to thank all our nurses for their demanding, responsible and meritorious work in our hospital. I appreciate the work of the nurses not only as the director of this hospital, but also as a doctor," says MUDr. Michal Průša, director of Hořovice Hospital.

The head nurse of the hospital Mgr. Jiří Pichlík adds: "I would also like to thank all our nurses for their incredible dedication, kindness and commitment in the exercise of their profession, which in many cases goes beyond the scope of their work."

International Nurses' Day is celebrated in honour of the birth of nursing's founder, Florence Nightingale (12 May 1820 - 13 August 1910), whose strong social conscience, diligence and determination made her the most important nurse in the history of world nursing. In fact, she profoundly influenced 19th and 20th century health care worldwide.
