The children and their parents and siblings were welcomed by MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová, head of the neonatology in Hořovice, together with nurses and doctors from her department. A rich programme, lots of games and other activities were prepared for the children and their companions.
"This year we had to postpone the festival from June to September due to the epidemiological situation, and even that was with great uncertainty. Until the last moment we did not know whether we would be able to organize the festival at all. For example, we had to make certain hygienic arrangements for the refreshments. Even the weather played with us at the last minute, when half an hour before the start of the event, there was a heavy rain, which fortunately did not last long and then the whole celebration was accompanied only by the sun, which allowed us to spend a pleasant afternoon with the children and their parents," says MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová. "The children performed various tasks for which they received stamps, and at the end they all received a souvenir medal and lots of gifts."
The most popular "discipline" again this year was the mare Etna, who was brought to the castle garden by her sister Jesika. The horse was ridden by all the children. The initially shy children were on their feet within minutes and almost all of them had their faces painted with beautiful pictures.
The organization of the event is mainly due to Mgr. Kamila Prádová, head nurse of neonatology, and her nursing team. During the group photo session, together with the Chief Nurse Dokoupilova, they thanked their nurses for their excellent preparation and organization and the parents for accepting the invitation. "This is extremely important feedback for us. It is wonderful to see children after three years who did not have an easy start in life," said the head of the ward.
And the feelings from this year's meeting? "It makes us very happy that even after three years parents take the time to come and visit us, some of them from far away. The year 2017 was really challenging, with several children in our ward in a very serious condition. It was wonderful and touching at the same time to see them laughing and playing after three years. The garden was full of happy children enjoying themselves together with their parents. This meeting is a reward for our very demanding work," concludes the headmistress from Horovice.
