The lecture was led by Ing. Kristýna Vrbová, Head of Controlling and Reporting of AKESO Holding, who introduced the participants to the principles of the Diagnosis Related Group (DRG) system. This classification system determines the method of reimbursement for inpatient care and has a major impact on the economics of a healthcare facility.
The training was intended primarily for physicians, but colleagues from other professions who wanted to learn more about how the reimbursement system works were also welcome. Participants learned about the functioning of the system, the meaning of specific terms and abbreviations, as well as the factors that influence the valuation and inclusion of a hospital case in the DRG.
The influence of the length of hospital stay and material costs on the amount of reimbursement from the health insurance company was explained using concrete examples. The effect of requested care on total reimbursement was also a topic for discussion. Finally, the format of the periodic reports was presented.
The atmosphere of the training was friendly and open. There were stimulating questions from the participants based on their daily practice, which we see as valuable feedback and inspiration for the preparation of future training sessions.
In the future, it is planned to integrate the training into the adaptation process, which will focus, among other things, on working with the Akord information system.
