The year 2025 was a big challenge for every maternity hospital in the Czech Republic, given the demographic forecasts. In 2025, 1,416 babies were born in the Hořovice Maternity Hospital (1,413 births), while in 2024 the number was 1,453. The year-on-year decline is thus only 2.5%, which is a very good result in view of the significant national decline in birth rates and a clear signal of the long-term stability of the maternity hospital. Of the total of 1 416 births, 761 were boys and 655 were girls. We took care of eight twins. 26.3% of babies were born by caesarean section at our maternity hospital.
"In the context of the current birth rate trends, we consider these figures as a confirmation of the confidence of parents and the stability of our maternity hospital. We greatly appreciate the fact that families continue to choose us for one of the most important moments of their lives," says MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová, manager of the maternity hospital and head of the Neonatal Department.
During the last year, the Hořovice Maternity Hospital managed to launch a new website and an Instagram account, where it already has over 1.8 thousand followers. Parents get comprehensive information about the course of pregnancy, childbirth and postpartum care at the maternity hospital. Our 1,5 year old apartment rooms are very popular, where the whole family can be accommodated, including older siblings. We are also retrofitting the birthing rooms with new equipment and upgrading the maternal and newborn care.

Our thanks therefore go to all the doctors, midwives, nurses, orderlies and lactation consultants who contribute with the utmost dedication to the care of mothers and their babies and ensure the continuous operation of the maternity hospital 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Their expertise, empathy and teamwork form the basis of an environment in which parents can feel safe and confident in entrusting the care of themselves and their baby to health professionals.
