The Ministry of Health has granted our application for accreditation to provide practical teaching in accredited medical bachelor's degree courses for the training of midwives.

"We are very pleased that the ministry has granted us accreditation," says Blanka Červenková, the hospital's head nurse, praising the ministry's approach to the application. "Students of the Bachelor's degree in Midwifery can now carry out compulsory professional practice with us. We offer the acquisition of new skills and knowledge in the field in a beautiful modern environment of all departments in which the position of midwife can be applied. The advantage in our hospital is the comprehensiveness of the care offered to mothers-to-be and thus the opportunity for future midwives to go through the whole range of expertise," explains the head nurse.

The midwives learn basic skills in caring for women with physiological, risky and pathological pregnancy, parturients, six-week-olds and gynaecologically ill women, become familiar with medical documentation and apply theoretical knowledge in practice. They will practice in the gynaecology department, which offers 32 beds, in the maternity hospital, which with its 1,738 births last year is one of the largest maternity hospitals in the Central Bohemia Region. They will learn about the care of newborns in the neonatology department, which is also a perinatology centre for intermediate care for children born from the 31st week of pregnancy.

The Hořovice Hospital has already received accreditation for the training of paramedics this year. The first paramedic course is already halfway through and eight people are now participating.
