Hořovice Hospital has reached a significant milestone in the field of modern surgery. Doctors here have successfully performed the 100th operation using the da Vinci robotic operating system. The jubilee procedure was performed by Petr Šíma, M.D., Ph.D. from the Department of Surgery and it was a resection of the rectum.

However, this success is not only a confirmation of the development of robotic surgery, but above all a proof of the long-term high level of the entire perioperative care of Hořovice Hospital, which includes a wide range of procedures from minimally invasive to highly specialized surgical procedures across disciplines.

The da Vinci robotic system is one of the most advanced technologies in the field of minimally invasive surgery. It allows surgeons to work with maximum precision, better control of the surgical field and a gentler approach to the patient. The result is less blood loss, lower risk of complications and faster recovery.

"Rectal resection is one of the most technically demanding procedures where precision is essential. The robotic system allows us to operate with a high level of detail even in anatomically difficult to access areas. For the patient, this means greater safety and a better postoperative course," said Petr Šíma, M.D., Ph.D., who performed the jubilee operation.

According to the hospital's management, reaching the 100 robotic procedures mark is a confirmation of the long-term strategy of developing cutting-edge surgery. "One hundred robotic operations performed is not just a number. It is proof of the systematic work of our teams, investment in modern technologies and emphasis on the expertise of both medical and non-medical staff. For us, robotic surgery is a natural part of the comprehensive care we offer to patients," said hospital director Radek Majerčin, MD.

The facilities of operating theatres and interdisciplinary cooperation also play an important role in the development of surgery. "The success of robotic procedures is based on a well-coordinated team - from surgeons to anaesthesiologists, instrument technicians, central sterilisation staff and technical staff. Our operating theatres meet the highest standards and allow even the most demanding procedures to be performed safely," added the Head of Central Operating Rooms , Peter Szeghy, MD.

Hořovice Hospital uses the da Vinci robotic system mainly in the field of colorectal surgery, urology and gynaecological procedures. The achieved milestone also confirms that the hospital is one of the workplaces that successfully combine cutting-edge technology with high expertise and quality care.
