The traditional charity hockey event "Match for Oncology" once again showed the power of sports solidarity. The district derby between the teams HC Spartak Žebrák and HC Cvočkaři Hořovice brought not only attractive hockey, but above all significant financial support to the Oncology Hospital Hořovice. Thanks to the involvement of players, fans and partners, a record CZK 182,411 was raised this year.

On Saturday, 11 October 2025, the traditional charity hockey match "RUN FOR ONCOLOGY" took place at the Hořovice Winter Stadium with the aim of supporting the Oncology Hospital in Hořovice. In the 5th round of the regional competition, there was a district derby, where the teams HC Spartak Žebrák and HC Cvočkaři Hořovice faced each other.

The whole hockey club Spartak Žebrák has been organizing this charity event for several years to support the Hořovice oncology department, which is a detached workplace of the Multiscan Oncology and Radiology Centre in Pardubice. An integral part of the event is also the subsequent auction of special jerseys from the charity match. The match was again held under the auspices of the town of Žebrák and its mayor Ing. Pavel Horázný.

Thanks to the high attendance, voluntary contributions and the proceeds from the auction, a record CZK 182,411 was raised this year, which will be donated in full to support cancer patients at the Hořovice Hospital. "We are very happy that every year we manage to raise a higher amount. It is proof that people understand the meaning of this event and want to help. A big thank you to both teams, fans, towns and all partners who joined the event," said Marek Potěšil, organizer of the event and representative of HC Spartak Žebrák.

The cheque presentation ceremony was attended by representatives of both towns, hockey clubs and representatives of the medical holding AKESO. On behalf of the town of Žebrák attended the mayor Ing. Pavel Horázný, for the town of Hořovice vice-mayor Eva Kaufmanová and Hořovice town councillor Mgr. Petr Bakule. Hockey club HC Cvočkaři Hořovice was represented by Robert Čech.

"We would like to thank the players of both clubs for their support and dedication with which they fight for our patients. We greatly appreciate all those who decided to support Hořovice Oncology," says the director of Multiscan Ing. Mgr. Martina Kulštejnová, who, together with the head of the local oncology in Hořovice , MUDr. Martin Šmakal, accepted the cheque with great gratitude.

The proceeds from the charity events of the Žebrák players have long contributed to improving the facilities of the outpatient clinics and making the treatment of patients more pleasant. "This year, we agreed with the chief physician, MUDr. Martin Šmakal, that the funds raised will be used to purchase an ECG machine for the oncology outpatient clinic. Regular monitoring of heart activity is very important for oncology patients. The possibility to perform an ECG directly in oncology significantly increases the safety of treatment and comfort of patients," added Ing. Mgr. Martina Kulštejnová.

The Charity Match for Oncology in 2025 confirmed that the connection of sport, solidarity and regional cooperation has real and long-term benefits for the patients of the oncology inpatient unit of the Hořovice Hospital.
