On Monday 29 August, Rostislav Hájek, head nurse of the Anesthesiology and Resuscitation Department of the Hořovice Hospital, together with paramedic Petr Kotva, accepted the invitation of PhDr. Marie Poledníková, deputy director of the Joachim Barrand Grammar School in Beroun, to give a first aid lecture for the cantors.
"I consider it very right that teachers try to be prepared for extreme situations and to be helpful to their students or colleagues. At the grammar school in Beroun, they have already had the experience of a colleague's circulatory arrest, who survived only thanks to the timely intervention of student Tomáš Brůžek. This student went through our training several years ago and we are very proud of him. The secondary school in Beroun clearly understood that our lectures are meaningful and therefore we will repeat them again for students during the school year," says Rostislav Hájek, a rescuer from Hořovice.
Hořovice paramedics are ready to offer their expertise in first aid to other institutions and interested parties. The 1.5 to 2 hour first aid lecture includes advice on how to stop bleeding, how to deal with acute conditions or how to restore vital signs. The training is led by paramedic Petr Kotva from the ARO department of Hořovice Hospital. Petr Kotva applies his several years of experience in this demanding department and applies it to the lay public in an understandable and practical form.
