Construction of the Mental Rehabilitation Centre is proceeding according to plan

A new Mental Rehabilitation Centre will be built on the premises of the Beroun Rehabilitation Hospital within five years.

A state-of-the-art psychiatric facility for up to 150 patients will be built on an area of 25,000 square metres.

"Psychiatric care is a big challenge for us in this sense. In the Czech Republic, this field has been neglected for a long time, both financially and conceptually, where the organisation of psychiatric care no longer corresponds to the modern approach that is now common in Western countries," said Sotirios Zavalianis, owner of the Beroun hospital on whose premises the centre is being built. "We can treat the body quite well, but the soul is worse. The construction of the centre will allow us to offer psychiatric and psychological care to people who are struggling with mental problems, which are rapidly increasing, in addition to the care and rehabilitation of the body," he added.

The total cost of construction is expected to reach CZK 1 billion and leading mental health experts are already working on treatment schemes so that the Mental Rehabilitation Centre can be operational within five years.
