Beroun students joined this project under the slogan Donate blood, you give life. "Our traditional event at the blood transfusion station of the Hořovice Hospital - blood donation, which has been attended by students of the 3rd and 4th years for the eighth season, up to three times a year, has perfectly fulfilled the intentions of the sponsors of this project," says Mgr. Marie Štěpničková, a professor at the J. Barrand Gymnasium, who also sponsored the event this year.
A total of 23 adult, current or former students of Gymnasium J. Barrand, including their friends from Beroun, participated in Thursday's 21st blood donationevent. "As a school, we can boast of almost two hectolitres of blood donated. Thank you to all the students who volunteered, endured and brought their family members, friends and friends to join the ranks of donors," said Ms. Stepnickova.
This year, the organisers of the competition prepared T-shirts and wristbands with the logo of the 72 Hours event for the participants and the school management purchased them for all students who came to Hořovice on 13 October to donate blood. "We were very pleased to hear from the staff of the transfusion station of the Hořovice Hospital that the students of our Gymnasium represent a significant group of young donors who fully replace donors who are excluded from blood donations by the age limit", adds the Beroun professor.
The Hořovice blood bank tries to reach more young blood donors throughout the year by organising interesting events, such as the St. Nicholas or Valentine's Day event "Do you love? Donate blood, or concerts with well-known performers. Last year, Hořovice recorded almost eleven thousand blood donations, with about five hundred donors coming to Hořovice for the very first time. Among them are the aforementioned students of the Beroun Gymnasium J. Barrand.
