"About 20 parents came to the meeting. The children had prepared a small performance together with their aunts and were thrilled with how well they did. The whole afternoon was in a friendly and nice spirit and we ended it with a roasting of the chickens," says Daniela Korosová, the leader of the NEMO children's group. "We try to make the day's activities in the children's group as varied as possible. Once a week, for example, the older children visit the physiotherapy department, where trained staff do rehabilitation exercises with them, or once a month the Smile Theatre visits us, each time with a new fairy tale," says Ms Korosová: "This year we are going to have a Christmas party connected with a creative workshop, together with parents we will sing and the children will show what nice things they have learned. We try to devote ourselves to the children as much as possible and make their stay in DS more varied. We have had positive feedback on the joint events with parents, parents can see the progress their child is making within the collective."
The NEMO children's group is located on the hospital campus in a new building that was built in 2017. The DS is for children from one year of age until the start of compulsory schooling. It is a corporate DS designed for children of NH employees and the operating hours are adapted to the working hours of medical and other hospital staff. The DS now has a capacity of 24 children and is building a second DS with the same capacity.
