We entered the new year with the certainty that 2015 will be the year of completion of the long-term reconstruction process of the Hořovice hospital. After six years of repairs and completion, tens of millions of investments, perhaps every objective employee or independent observer will acknowledge that the Hořovice hospital has taken further significant steps towards transformation into a modern, state-of-the-art medical facility, whose fame far exceeds the borders of Berounsko and is without exaggeration one of the best in the country.
Allow me to briefly recapitulate our most significant achievements during 2014.
- With the arrival of several outstanding specialist surgeons, the Horovice Surgery has become one of the most sought-after centres for the treatment of non-specific intestinal inflammation. In addition, the surgical department has been operating in brand new premises since last November.
- In March, we were the first in the country to open a ward for children requiring chronic resuscitation and intensive care - OCHRIP
- Thanks to the excellent work of the obstetrics and neonatal wards, we have managed to obtain the status of a perinatology centre, where premature and immature babies can be cared for. It is still worth noting that a total of twenty intermediate care centres applied for this status, but only eleven of them obtained it.
- For the first time in its fifty-three-year history, the Hořovice Maternity Hospital U Sluneční brány recorded a record 1,527 births last year, which confirms its exceptional position in the Central Bohemia Region and places it among the largest and most modern maternity hospitals in the Czech Republic.
- Last October we received the Certificate of Accreditation from the SAK - Joint Accreditation Commission. Hořovice Hospital has thus become the first medical facility of this type in the Central Bohemia Region to have this accreditation.
- However, in order not to stay only with specialised projects, we also focused on the development of preventive programmes within the framework of a healthy lifestyle, prevention of cardiovascular diseases and obesity. We have also managed to establish very good cooperation with primary schools, gymnasiums and leisure and interest associations in Horovice.
Maintaining the reputation of the hospital would not be possible without the responsible and dedicated work of doctors, nurses, other medical and non-medical staff. Therefore, I would like to once again acknowledge the contribution of all the staff in improving the quality of care and for their humane approach to patients. I believe that we will be able to maintain and further improve this trend.
