Good morning, My name is Jessica Ruzicka, and I’m writing on behalf of my father, Milan Ruzicka (DOB: 01.03.1945), who was admitted to IK+EM Hospital on Sunday. He was admitted with weakness, instability, and confusion. Initially we believed it was related to diabetes, but doctors later discovered a herpes outbreak around his back and ribs and started antiviral treatment immediately. After CT scans, neurological exams, bloodwork, and other testing, the hospital has not found a clear physical cause for his condition. Physically, many results appear normal, but his mental state and cognitive function remain significantly affected. Although he may soon be discharged, he still cannot walk independently, has poor balance, and struggles with speech, communication, and awareness. Could you please let us know: Is this something your facility could assist with? Do you currently have availability for admission or care? Thank you for your time and guidance. Best, Jessica

Hello, herpes, i.e. herpes viruses, cause both shingles and, for example, generalized infectious diseases. They always affect individuals who are somehow weakened, otherwise sick or old. Treatment is local, systemic antivirals can also be administered. Here it is necessary to consider further examination of the cerebrospinal fluid to exclude systemic impairment. Overall care of the patient's general condition and condition is appropriate. Professionally, this issue falls under infectious diseases - e.g. Central Military Hospital Prague, Bulovka Hospital, etc. Fingers crossed T.Bruthans
