František Šmíd has been donating blood since 1982. He sees blood donation as a healthy attitude to life and human solidarity. "I would like to thank all the voluntary blood donors, not only from the Beroun district, for their meritorious attitude, for their drops of hope for us, for all the needy who desperately needed this most precious gift for their subsequent lives," says Mr Šmíd.
"Come among us, it's not just about donating a piece of yourself, but about meeting friends, stopping for a moment to breathe in a relaxed environment and to get away from the constant daily rush and stress," he adds: "I would never have had so many donations if this idea had not been supported by my employer Buzuluk a.s., or Piston Rings Komárov s.r.o., who are very supportive of their employees who donate blood. However, the greatest thanks go to the professional interplay and approach of the entire team of the Hořovice Hospital transfusion station under the baton of Mrs Šrámková, who manages to handle the daily onslaught of donors with grace. She brings her smiles, peace and calmness to the donors in this department. For their work they deserve not only my great thanks."
Today our transfusion station was also visited by MEP Tomáš Zdechovský, who made his 40th donation here and thus became a Golden Donor. "I have been donating blood since I was 18 years old. I take it as part of my everyday life. In 2007, I founded a blood donation event called Who Loves, Donates Blood, which takes place every year on Valentine's Day across the Czech Republic," said Mr Zdechovský, adding: "I am glad that I was able to support with my 40th donation the largest donation point in the Central Bohemian Region, which is what the Hořovice Hospital Transfusion Station can boast of."
