"In an effort to expand the possibility of meals for mothers in the postpartum period, we have set up a snack buffet right in the premises of the six-week ward. Mothers can eat here for free beyond breakfast, lunch and dinner," says Tomáš Petsinis, Chief Operating Officer of Hořovice Hospital.
The buffet includes muesli, fruit, energy bars for breastfeeding mothers, dairy products and other goodies.
"Patients in the six-week ward have a special diet designed by the hospital's nutritionist to suit not only the mothers but also not to interfere with breastfeeding. However, it happened that mothers were admitted to the ward after giving birth outside the standard meal distribution or were often hungry after longer deliveries because they had not thought of food or could not eat during the delivery," described MUDr. Milena Dokoupilová, head of the neonatal ward. "Mothers can now go to the snack corner at any hour to get food, which we replenish regularly. We believe that this benefit will be welcomed by mothers."
